Audacity is free sound editing software. It is open source and there are versions for all operating systems and platforms. Constant improvements and an enormous and very active community of devote followers that offer support makes this tool a favorite of many.

Audacity allows for sounds, songs, and audio files to be recorded and edited. This tool will be useful for workshop participants to add their own voice to pictures and images in a presentation. Its features seemed easier to use than other similar audio editing applications.

* Brief Description: Audacity allows for high quality recording with different editing functions.  Allows for simple recording and for more complex mixing and editing.       * Brief Explanation: I like how easy it is to edit and record with Audacity and then be able to add the recordings to the screen captures created through Camtasia.      

For the Presentation section of the Workshop, this free audio software can be used as a podcast or simply the audio and embeded into a Wiki or Ning or PowerPoint project.

This website will allow the learners to become familiar with the tool they will be using to add voice to their presentation. This website offers tutorials and activities that allow them to become familiar with the features Audacity offers.

Camtasia is a screen capturing and editing tool, allowing users to create interactive videos, tutorials and presentations. The site includes an overview videos, as well as free online tutorials. They are great for essential and generative learning, as they facilitate a better understanding of how to use the tool and help reduce essential cognitive load. This tool is an exceptional one for creating multimedia materials and presentations.

* Brief Description: Camtasia is a screen recording and video editing software that allows for a high quality of screen recording and the ability to add special effects and edit.  You can also add in other media and share high-quality videos with others.     * Brief Explanation: It is user friendly and gives you the ability to add audio recorded through Audacity.  I also appreciate the high quality videos it produces.

Explanation: Have always wondered how advertisers managed to arrange words of varying sizes and colors into a visually appealing montage. This software makes the task exceptionally easy. 2. Voice Thread URL: http://voicethread.com Description: Allows learners to look at examples of artwork as a group and to comment freely. Explanation: This provides an ability to get impressions from participants in real time.
