Snap! is a drag and drop programming interface designed to help students learn to program. Snap! uses a visual interface that works in your browser on your laptop as well as on your iPad. To design a program in Snap! drag commands into a sequence in the scripts panel.

This is an ace trick that is simple and if you are needing to produce a load of qr codes or just add a few on the go... Wish I had discovered this one before motm12 ;-)

Google has released a completely visual programming language that lets you build software without typing a single character. Now available on Google Code - the company's site for hosting open source software - the new language is called Google Blockly, and it's reminiscent of Scratch, a platform developed at MIT that seeks to turn even young children into programmers. Like Scratch, Blockly lets you build applications by piecing together small graphical objects in much the same way you'd piece together Legos. Each visual object is also a Code object - a variable or a counter or an "if-then" statement or the like - and as you piece them to together, you create simple functions. And as you piece the functions together, you create entire applications - say, a game where you guide a tiny figurine through a maze.

Not sure if you have already seen this in the past, but this has been a lifesaver for me over the past 2 years. You upload a file, set the width, height, printing, downloading and privacy options and then copy the code the site generates for you. This then allows you to embed the code into any other website as HTML. Once embedded, you can zoom in and out, print and download. My favourite feature is the 'Full screen' button in the bottom right hand corner which enlarges the document so even the weariest of eyes can read it online. You should never really have to print them out at all. Running a Learning Management System means you want to be able to share documents, PDFs, etc but not necessarily have to download them and then open them. This has helped keep our parent community happy as it cuts out another two steps when accessing their newsletter online, and it has come in really handy for ePortfolios. With the release of the Ultranet in all Victorian schools, this type of tool will become even more valuable.

This neat tool from Google, ChartTool is a simple-to-use chart-making service that lets you simply paste in your data and play around with how it looks. It's never been easier to whip up charts that are actually easy to use and update. In fact, embedding these charts on web pages is quite simple thanks to the embed API. You can even make QR codes in just a few seconds and quickly get an embed code to add it to your website. While ChartTool does not create as many of those fancy 3-D charts that Excel does (it still makes quite a few), it likely will be able to in the future. However, if you're in a rush and need to whip up some exact charts without all the fluff, this is the tool for you.
