A great Slideshare looking at QR Codes from the marketing point of view. The presentation contains a great explanation of the makeup of a QR code as well as examples of good and not so good uses in marketing. It also looks at other types of codes that compete with QR codes.

I re-worked some of the questions for a lesson with my adorable ESOL kids (we have 35 right now in our ESOL program & one cute be-freckled girl just came yesterday & speaks no English at all but she LOVED scanning the codes when I handed her my Droid Fascinate!) The rest of the kids have varying degrees of English proficiency but still will benefit from a few visual clues. So the scavenger hunt questions are intentionally simply & clearly worded combined with pics I created as QR Code Hints. You can also use this lesson for special needs classes, Library Media orientation, or even re-mix the questions, QR Codes, & hints for just about ANY subject area! To create the hints I used a combination of Photoshop, Flickr, bit.ly and my favourite QR Code generator, Kaywa."

Qrafter is a free two-dimensional barcode scanner for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Its main purpose is to scan and parse the contents of QR Codes. This is a really interesting QR code maker that enables you to add as much text as you wish in the note. A mobile page is then created and a QR code generated to which can be added an optional disqus discussion and a range of 'Like' buttons.

You can also use their pay for service for other options eg t-shirts etc.

Goo.gl URL shortener also allows you to create QR codes for your website links. Google uses QR  Code for its personal use in many applications.

Kaywa is a really straight forward QR code generator. Input can be URL, 250 character text, Phone Number or SMS. Is only for non-commercial use though.

The Periodic Table of QR Codes. Each QR is basically a link to a video in the PToV from Nottingham Uni's chemistry department. Point and shoot and up pops the appropriate Youtube clip. Simple. Brilliant. Fun. Ubergeek. Chemical.

Created my first Google Chrome extension which is a productivity tool for the creation of QR Codes. Simply click the button to produce a QR code of the page your on, you can also right click a hyperlink or selected text to produce a downloadable QR Code.

Tag My Doc (Beta) is a time-saving web service that uses QR Codes to share documents. Tag My Doc has a basic free service (and a few paid plans) that enables you to share your documents in real time with anyone and everyone who is interested in it. It is a huge time-saver because it saves you from emailing people individually.
