Air Video is great, this is an awesome app. I have used it to share videos off my laptop for students to view on the iPad. Nice summary of cool iPad Apps that are serious game-changers.

Really, there are so many apps available it can be hard to know where to begin and once you find something that looks useful, it's difficult to assess it properly until you've download and installed it on your iPad. iPad music apps that are free can take away the risk of choosing a dud and they can be useful when book-listing apps for students on a tight budget.

Here's just a quick demo of AirPlay Mirroring - from the iPad 2 to my MacBook Pro, using the Air Server app on the Mac. Air Server has just been updated to include this functionality - so after what seemed like an eternity waiting for this to be possible, this week we suddenly have two Mac apps that offer this capability.

Children given iPads to use at school are more focused on learning and less likely to misbehave, research has found. University of WA education researchers have been investigating the use of iPads and other mobile devices in 12 independent schools during the past 10 months. UWA's Grace Oakley said teachers found that students were more likely to finish their homework and do a better job.

The reviews from people testing the Nexus 7 for an extended period have been almost unanimously positive. However, while many have rightly compared the Nexus 7 to the Kindle Fire, and stated that Google's effort blows Amazon's out of the water, few would even mention the Nexus 7 in the same breath as the Apple iPad. I disagree with this inherent refusal to put the two on a par. I believe the Nexus 7 is competition for the iPad and I feel competition to Apple's stranglehold on the tablet market is exactly what's needed at this juncture

Joe Dale posts an iPad idea/tip each day.  He normally posts a 1 - 2min audio clip that contains a useful tip on how to perform a certain function or use a particular feature of your iPad.  So far all the tips and tricks have been really good. In the world of  tablet technology the warring dividing lines very quickly became the choice between Apple and Android mobile devices. The research began. The comparisons between apps and general capacity for varied uses were central (see my earlier blog posts), but also crucial was the cost. The question, 'why pay for the premium Apple iPad product in a time of fiscal austerity in education?' is obvious.
