Comments can be added to each painting and the whole collection can then be shared with friends and family.

hile it may be easy to imagine how iPads can support classroom studies with reading, history, or science, some of the most groundbreaking - and creative - work with digital tools may be happening in arts classes. Schools using iPads are incorporating them in art and music classes, too - and not only as tools for measuring and remembering, but for creating as well.

Every Australian student will study the arts from their first year of school under the new national arts curriculum, which was released today for public consultation.

That's how we think the 21st century image libraries should look like. But we are not a typical commercial library. We believe that images of art, history and science, especially those from the public domain, should be free for educational use. That's why we have taken this - a bit more difficult but more satisfying - way of development. Just because we think it's the right way and it is worth the technical and all other possible difficulties.

"In Dun Laoghaire the "Festival of World Culture" took place from 21. to 24. of August 2008. Edgar Müller has followed the invitation and continued his series of large-sized 3D Street Art there. For this year's Festival of World Cultures renowned German street painting artist Edgar Müller transformed a huge slice of the East Pier into a dramatic ice age scene. This project was supported by the Goethe Institution Germany."

Minecraft is the winner of a new arts award for computer games. The prize was announced at the finale of the GameCity videogame culture festival in Nottingham.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that more than 400,000 high-resolution digital images of public domain works in the Museum's world-renowned collection may be downloaded directly from the Museum's website for non-commercial use-including in scholarly publications in any media-without permission from the Museum and without a fee. The number of available images will increase as new digital files are added on a regular basis.

Our Little Earth is a nice site that provides bi-weekly summaries of the world's biggest news stories. The summaries are written for students. Each edition includes video clips along with the stories. In each edition you'll find stories appropriate for use in social studies, math, and science lessons.
