Mostly relating to secondary students; however it is important to learn what older students (those that will impact our younger students) are doing with technology and knowing they want to maintain good online reputations.
I've seen online classes use this well. An online chat gives an introvert time to answer questions and make comments at their own pace whereas in a live class the conversation would have moved on by the time the introvert was ready to contribute. The question is, is there any way to use this at the elementary level?
In fact, the introvert may be a pushed out as the extroverts of the group dominate the conversation even if their thinking is not on target.

this site lets you read books online for free, you just have to join. Would be great for reading to class and allowing them to read along with you if you project on the screen
States for preschool children, but relates to Kindergarten Social Studies SOL. Love the website links to online books that have sound bites for children who have trouble reading. Quizzes at end of books to use for assessment purposes.
An interesting video about people who post educational videos online. Some are teachers, some are not. It's exciting that people and students are learning through these videos, but is this the future of education? What do we as trained teachers offer that untrained video educators don't? Anything? What is going to be the role of the classroom with 4 walls in the future?
