Website Hacking Statistics in 2020 - WebARX Security Blog - 0 views

  • A very worrisome fact about website hacking statistics and hacking websites is that 98% of WordPress vulnerabilities are related to plugins. (See Figure 7 below.) The most popular vulnerability types in WordPress plugins are Cross-site Scripting and SQL Injection. According to CVE Details, XSS attacks are the biggest threat to WordPress sites. The second most popular type of attack is code execution and third are different bypass vulnerabilities. What is even the most worrisome is that in these top 10 WordPress plugins listed you can see 5 commercial plugins, they have around 21 million downloads and one of these plugins is a security plugin. (Source: WP WhiteSecurity) Source: WP WhiteSecurity To top it off, even more, the sad part is that anyone can create a plugin and publish it — WordPress is open source and nobody is performing a code analysis before the new plugin is sent out for the world. Also, there are no serious security standards for these plugins hence, WordPress plugins are unfortunately prone to vulnerabilities.

Search Stats You Need to Know (Sept 08) & Build A Banner In Minutes - 0 views

  • Google AdWords: Separate metrics for Google and search partners are now available As reported on the Inside AdWords blog, and in the spirit of transparency, Google is finally breaking out stats between Google Search and the Google Search Network. I’ve actually run mirrored campaigns with each option just to be able to see the difference between the two search vehicles. I’m glad Google has now opened this up to us. According to the Google blog: We’re happy to let you know that we’ve changed the way your Campaign Summary and Ad Group Summary pages present statistics in order to give you additional level of detail into your campaign performance. Previously, these pages divided statistics into two categories: search, which included Google and search partners, and the content network. Now, we show one set of statistics for Google and another set aggregating search partner performance. Search partners include AOL, Ask.com, and many other search sites around the web. You can view ad group or campaign performance at a summary level, or broken down by different combination of Google, our search partners, and our content network. Additionally, separate Google and aggregate search partner statistics will soon be available in the Report Center. Click image above for full screen version

  • Free tool of the week: Build banner ads in minutes in AdWords Called the Display Ad Builder, AdWords now offers a wizard type interface which walks you through the process of building a banner ad. As reported on their blog last week: Today we released the AdWords display ad builder, which lets you create professional-looking display ads in AdWords without needing to hire a designer or start from scratch. If you’ve wanted to expand beyond your text ad campaigns, or if you’ve been looking for an easier way to build display ads, this tool can help. This new tool lets you create customized display ads with your own text, images, and logo. You can also change colors and backgrounds. The tool can create ads to fit all possible placements across the Google content network, including video and game placements. The display ad builder is available now to all advertisers in the U.S. and Canada. The interface is very easy to use. SEOmoz | Announcing SEOmoz's Index of the Web and the Launch of our Linkscape Tool - 0 views

  •
After 12 long months of brainstorming, testing, developing, and analyzing, the wait is finally over. Today, I'm ecstatic to announce some very big developments here at SEOmoz. They include: * An Index of the World Wide Web - 30 billion pages (and growing!), refreshed monthly, built to help SEOs and businesses acquire greater intelligence about the Internet's vast landscape * Linkscape - a tool enabling online access to the link data provided by our web index, including ordered, searchable lists of links for sites & pages, and metrics to help judge their value. * A Fresh Design - that gives SEOmoz a more usable, enjoyable, and consistent browsing experience * New Features for PRO Membership - including more membership options, credits to run advanced Linkscape reports (for all PRO members), and more. Since there's an incredible amount of material, I'll do my best to explain things clearly and concisely, covering each of the big changes. If you're feeling more visual, you can also check out our Linkscape comic, which introduces the web index and tool in a more humorous fashion: Check out the Linkscape Comic SEOmoz's Index of the Web For too long, data that is essential to the practice of search engine optimization has been inaccessible to all but a handful of search engineers. The connections between pages (links) and the relationship between links, URLs, and the web as a whole (link metrics) play a critical role in how search engines analyze the web and judge individual sites and pages. Professional SEOs and site owners of all kinds deserve to know more about how their properties are being referenced in such a system. We believe there are thousands of valuable applications for this data and have already put some effort into retrieving a few fascinating statistics: * Across the web, 58% of all links are to internal pages on the same domain, 42% point to pages off the linking site. * 1.83%

Why Doesn't Social Influence Shopping More? | ClickZ - 0 views

  • According to a recent interview with Jay Henderson, strategy director at IBM Smarter Commerce on Mashable, just one percent of Black Friday sales are attributable to social media. One percent! That said, it would be naïve to think that your social efforts don't have any influence on sales.

We Analyzed 5 Million Google Search Results. Here's What We Learned About Organic CTR - 0 views

  • Here is a Summary of Our Key Findings: 1. The #1 result in Google’s organic search results has an average CTR of 31.7%. 2. The #1 organic result is 10x more likely to receive a click compared to a page in #10 spot. 3. Organic CTR for positions 7-10 is virtually the same. Therefore moving up a few spots on the bottom of the first page may not result in more organic traffic. 4. On average, moving up 1 spot in the search results will increase CTR by 30.8%. However, this depends on where you’re moving from and to. Moving from position #3 to position #2 will usually result in a significant CTR boost. However, moving from #10 #9 doesn’t make a statistically significant difference. 5. Title tags that contain a question have a 14.1% higher CTR vs. pages that don’t have a question in their title. 6. Title tags between 15 to 40 characters have the highest CTR. According to our data, pages with a title tag length between 15 and 40 characters have an 8.6% higher CTR compared to those that are outside of that range. 7. URLs that contain a keyword have a 45% higher click through rate compared to URLs that don’t contain a keyword. 8. Adding “Power Words” to your title tag may decrease your CTR. We found that titles with Power Words had a 13.9% lower CTR compared to titles that didn’t contain Power Words. 9. Emotional titles may improve your CTR. We found that titles with positive or negative sentiment improved CTR by approximately 7%. 10. Writing meta descriptions for your pages may result in a higher CTR. Pages with a meta description get 5.8% more clicks than those without a description. I have detailed data and information of our analysis below.
