Digital Security First-Aid Kit for Human Rights Defenders | Association for Progressive... - 1 views

  •
Useful resource and parts could be used in the Net Safety workshop. "This kit contains short guides for human rights defenders who find themselves in emergencies related to communication and digital security. As guides are being added, individual sections of following scheme become active. While the kit does not provide exhaustive guidelines on how to respond to specific situations, it does suggest concrete steps, further resources and references to support groups to whom activists can turn to for further assistance."

The 5 Resources Model of Critical Digital Literacy - 0 views

  •
"The 5 Resources Model provides a framework to articulate the scope and dimensions of digital literacies. It is based on an established model of literacy which is underpinned by critical perspectives (the Four Resources Model of Critical Literacy, after Luke & Freebody). It has been adapted for the digital context. The model has been developed to encompass the varied perceptions and meanings attributed to digital literacy. On the one hand some stakeholders put a strong focus on ICT, i.e. the skills involved in using computers, software and digitally enabled devices; others emphasise the social and interpersonal, creative and communicative skills highlighted by social media and Web 2.0; there are also critical and intellectual approaches associated with the term digital scholarship. Different stakeholders tend to emphasise different skillsets. The model therefore provides an overarching framework against which groups can develop a shared sense of the parameters and scope of digital literacy. This can inform the curriculum and map to graduate attributes as well as contribute to staff development and employability agendas."

Baselining digital literacy provision - JISC - 1 views

  •
"This page collates resources for conducting a baseline review of digital literacy at an institutional level, as carried out by the 12 institutional projects and 10 professional associations of the JISC Developing Digital Literacies (DDL) programme. These materials are freely available to other institutions and professional bodies for repurposing and reuse.   This page also collates findings from that baseline process. Although a wide range of institutions and professional bodies were involved, these findings are not necessarily generalisable to other institutions of further and higher education. There is no substitute for carrying out a local audit and building consensus for local recommendations."

Digital literacy resource. A would-be saboteur arrested today at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland made the bizarre claim that he was from the future. Eloi Cole, a strangely dressed young man, said that he had travelled back in time to prevent the LHC from destroying the world.
