Mike Lemmon made an excellent post on Personal Learning Networks, that led me to talk to him and Jeffery Whitlock about them. Jeffery led me to this book about declining social capital, and made a blog post about it.

Great presentation on how to make your mark in the digital world

Here is the comment I left on the SlideShare website: This is super important stuff, thank you for sharing. In our digital age, a person's ability to market themselves on the web is a form of social capital. The more people follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and the blogosphere, the greater influence we can have. It makes me think about what happens in the book, 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card. In the story, Peter and Valentine publish a lot of political commentary under aliases which eventually have a huge impact on world politics. Our future world may be run by those who can best market themselves and let their voice be heard.

This is proof that you can find anything on the web. I hope you all enjoy. If you want to look deeper into any meaning that can be derived from this website, it would be that I found this website by doing the following: I looked on the digital literacy labs page, I clicked on the Create labs, I clicked the link to Slideshare.net, I looked at the top presentations which was done by a Heidi Miller, I followed Heidi Miller, looked at her profile, went to her blog, read some then scrolled down far enough and found this sweet gem of the internet.

It's interesting how many teachers will not allow you to use Wikipedia as a source, but in light of this digital civilization class, isn't it a form of Open Access Information, and shouldn't it be praised in a way?
  • Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. That's our commitment.

It says that the tower was built to intentionally lean. Now we know it leans because of a poor foundation. Interesting

Notice the avaliability of this source. Doesn't flow with open science, or the open knowledge descirbed therein.

This is an article from the Encyclopedia of Diderot & d'Alembert. I clicked on it interested in how architecture was seen and got a quick history lesson!

An interesting blog post that discusses the paradoxes of foundationalism and empiricism. It is interesting to note that the author of this post does not even consider intuition/revelation to be a division of epistemology.

The Harvard Classics as free online open source books. They were advertised that, if read, they would provide an excellent Liberal Arts education. Some are simply selections of the whole books - but it is certainly a good overview! I think that I would prefer to read the whole books, though!
