Scholarly Communications @ Duke » What is Open Science? - 1 views

  • The spirit of these principles is that there should be transparency to the methods, observations, data collection, data access, communication, collaboration and research tools.  Instead of limiting the sharing of the practice of science to publication of selected results, the entire scientific process should be exposed to potential users, collaborators and extenders of the work.

Encyclopedia entry on "California". The entry on America said that more specific information was given under the different regions. I decided to look up California, since that was one of the regions the entry listed. This is quite an entertainging description of California and it makes me wonder what their sources were.

This chart should look more like a web, showing the connections between the various areas. It is similar to getting an education, you can not get a complete education in one area, without dabbling in other areas. For example, the connections between theology, and religious history.

Sometimes before you can understand something you have to quantify it. These early natural philosophers were just organizing what they had learned so they could better understand it. How different is it from us today, trying to map the human genome?

epistemology by John Wanninger on Prezi - 1 views

Great Prezi on Epistemology. Though revelation is not mentioned as a division on epistemology, it is of worth to note that many rationalists seem to suggest an element of revelation in some of their postulates i.e. Men have innate knowledge…

A VC: Freemium and Freeconomics - 1 views

  • the Internet allows an entrrepreneur to enter a market with a free offering because the costs of doing so are not astronomical. And most entrpreneurs who take this approach will maintain an attractive free offering of their basic service forever. But that doesn't mean that everything they offer will be free. That's the whole point of freemium. Free gets you to a place where you can ask to get paid. But if you don't start with free on the Internet, most companies will never get paid.
    • Kevin Watson

Not everything in the world will be free in a "free economy". "Free" is just a ploy to get you into a position where you will want to buy better things to work with.

I also love how much you can get "on-demand". BYU Devotionals, CES Firesides, General Conference. Although, I liked the older version better, you could pause live TV and it was a lot more seamless.
