The U.S. Roman Catholic bishops issued a pastoral letter that would criticize abortion and end the disgrace of having an abortion under law.

My mother was born to an unwed 15 year old in 1940. My mother was given away in adoption to a family member. My grandmother wanted to have my mom (she had fallen in love with a service man who was killed in German) but her mom wanted her to have an abortion. It was illegal in those days and my grandmother refused to go to the "special doctor." So she was shipped away to a home for girls like her in Chicago to have my mom. My story is different then most. I am a product of a saved baby. Without my grandmother fighting for my mom, myself, my brother, my children, we would be dead. It is harder to speak to a child that survived abortion. No one has the right to tell me that we do not have the right to live. I am so grateful that abortion was illegal. I am so grateful that my beautiful children are alive.We are blessed.

Whenever this issue comes up one thing always pops into my head. My body, my choice. I am a female that was born and raised in the Catholic church and had to listen to this stuff for years. It never made sense to me why so many people try revoking this right from women. If you don't support it, fine. However, to take the option away from women who do want abortion as an option opens up even more negative doors. When women do not have a safe environment to discuss these options and the operation itself is made illegal then women who are desperate are more likely to go to back alley doctors or try to perform their own abortion. This often leads to more deaths among women whether it be from a botched, cheap operation or a horrific infection. It should also be noted that each woman is different. They might want the option of abortion for various reasons. Perhaps something is wrong with the child, and the doctors note it won't live past a couple of days, maybe the woman was raped and ended up pregnant, perhaps the fetus was dying and was also killing the mother, perhaps the woman just doesn't want children. You never know the circumstances of why a woman chooses to have an abortion, and they should never be judged for it or have that right revoked.

This is such a controversial topic but I believe women should have a choice even if it may not be the "right" choice. It's her body and she should make the decisions.

I don't disagree with abortion but there should be a line that can't be crossed. At 6 weeks old a baby's heartbeat can be detected. It's not just "her body" anymore, there is a living human in there.

Since 1972 the ACLU has been working to secure gender equality and ensure that all women and girls are able to lead lives of dignity, free from violence and discrimination, including discrimination based on gender stereotypes.

It is crazy to think that in 2017 that we as humans can't treat one another the same as you would want to be treated yourself. I am not a woman but I do have a wife and daughter that I would hate/despise if they were treated any less than myself for any reason.

The right to protest has been a major point of freedom for the US. It's a fundamental right written in the constitution. Now lawmakers are trying to take away that freedom by making it illegal to protest.

The real problem is the groups that are vandalizing and rioting, and then claiming it is their right. Because of these people, these states are trying to do something that should never even be a thought. The right to peaceful protest should never be taken from the American people. I do not condone the violence and rioting that occurs, and laws pertaining to that are pertinent, but not peaceful protest. So many things have been accomplished because of these types of protests in our history. As a woman I would not be participating in this class if it weren't for the people brave enough to protest for equality. It is a travesty that government officials, who should know and understand the rights given to the us in the Constitution, would bring about legislation to override said rights.

Women who breastfeed their children have the right to breastfeed in public. Some states like California protect their right to not be harrassed while doing so. Other states don't have laws that protect breastfeeding mothers right to breastfeed in public. Breastfeeding is shamed on but when breast are seen everywhere else nothing is said.

It is one of the most important things to do for a child. I find it disturbing that some people go off on them and say that it looks gross. People have a problem with it because they think they are exposing themselves, They kind of are but they have a reason to do it which is for breast feeding. What would they do if they had a child and had to breast feed? I think they might change their mind a little bit.

It really irritates me when I hear that people are so against breast feeding in public. The whole point of it is to feed the baby and give it nourishment that the baby will not get from formula. I am sure the mother does not do it with intentions to expose themselves. Sometimes what needs to be done as to be done and people must deal with it.

Laws that restrict abortion have the effect and purpose of preventing a woman from exercising any of her human rights. The abortion-rights debate is commonly misunderstood, with advocates on both sides attributing false motives to many good, deeply conscientious people. Denying women access to abortion is a form of gender discrimination.

I like how this article used their own experience of feeling different towards the argument int the past to help boost their side. But I completely agree that men should not have an opinion on a woman's body, but also if they do have an issue with abortion then they need to take preventing unwanted pregnancies more seriously!

This is the most common social issue that I see brought up/discussed. The author is this article did a great job including her own personal experiences with abortion laws. Unlike a lot of the articles on the topic, it was not cut and dry full of laws and instead replaced with actual opinions/experiences. I see this topic coming up more especially as Texas recently passed a law that woman would not be able to receive abortions past 6 weeks of fetus age.

Missouri reintroduced a bill stating that a woman had to have written consent from the father before she could have an abortion. Rick Brattin, a supporter of the bill, said that since he has to get written consent from his wife to have a vasectomy, women should have written consent to have an abortion. Pro choice groups are extremely mad at the idea.

I do not think that burning the American flag is really effective as it only makes others mad. I think that people should protest if they are upset about something or believe something is unfair. I do not think that people should protest violently/aggressively, though. A lot of people protest peacefully, but some do protest violently- which only puts a harsh look on the whole situation.

I understand that there is a lot wrong with this country and people have a right to be upset with our government and how the country is right now. I feel that the flag symbolizes much more than just our country. I feel like it stands for every man and woman fighting for this country in the military. The flag symbolizes the military people that have died for us. I feel like buring the flag is complete disrespect to those that have died for our country and their families. There are so many ways to protest your beliefs about the country, there is no need to burn the flag that I feel represents the honor of those that have died for our country.

After looking at this article, it is clear to me to see what side the author is on, although she tries to be incognito with it. She, of course, shames the Womens March, and obviously is on the Pro-Life side of the spectrum. What people don't realize is, the women's march wasn't all about abortion and trump, it was standing up for other things.
