I feel like every women should be guaranteed paid maternity leave. The government constantly wants us to re produce to keep the world going, so they should encourage women that they'll be fine with money and won't have to worry about missing work.

Maternity leave should be a MUST. Pregnancy is tough and the delivery is life changing. Mother's go through all different kinds of changes. It is unfair for a mother to have to go through these changes all while worrying about having to go to work and missing and wondering how her child might be doing.

I would have loved if my husband could have had paternity leave from work when I had my children. It also depends on the circumstances in the family household. Can they afford for both to be on leave?

I am not sure what to think about this article. Am I the only one that thinks it is a little absurd? I say absurd because it seems people are increasingly sensitive. I do not condone bullying. However, an adult should not be bullied at work. I can not think of a profession that it would actually take place. One might say well that is part of the problem. No, just because somebody can't take a joke; are they going to report a coworker to a supervisor. Too many people are too sensitive.

Bullying can happen anywhere and we may just not realize it. Most people don't realize when someones being bullied because it's all seen as a joke.

Homelessness is a major social issue. Housing is a basic right. Before the inalienable rights were changed to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" is was "life liberty and property" meaning housing is a human right.

I definitely agree with this article. Even if some people like to think this isn't a problem it definitely is. For men and women in the same field regardless of what that field is men often get the higher income than women do. My mother is a major example of this and often talks about how the men in the same department as her make more money even when they produce less work that generally isn't that good. On top of that my mother works the same amount of hours and even more than average in a given week yet still doesn't come close to the pay gap. Of course, there may be inconsistency in statistics but it is definitely still an issue to be aware of because it still exists.

Technology has and will always be a huge part of my life. Having grown up with a brother heavily into gaming, programming, and IT work I got to see first hand the in's and out's of how the web works. It all comes down to how you manage your own security. Of course, there will always be the paranoia of being monitored but that has been happening for a long time. It all comes down to being cautious with what you do alone and or over technologies.

This book captures the many facets of information gathering by digital dossiers. It reminded me of the recent unveiled programs called Tempora and Prism used by the United Kingdom and NSA. The extent of these programs capacity to siphon user data iset deeply guarded and not known in detail, however the dossiers gathered by our internet traffic on an individual basis should alarm users. I belive privacy is priceless, if I told my grandfather who passed in 2006 the extent we divulge our personal information on social media he would probably find it unbelievable. He was born in 1920 became an officer in the United States Air Force and served in WW2. The idea of privacy has changed with each generation. The way we perceive the handheld devices we all carry as young as the age of 5, may seem to our greatest generation who is currently exiting our society as a mere tracking device for big brother. The Amnesty International suggests that America should treat human rights respectfully in any movements they make in the reputation of countering terrorism or national security. On the downside, America's political authorities are creating an anti-human rights motive when bringing about counter-terrorism, lethal force, surveillance, Guantanamo, and freedom of expression.

The IRC (International Rescue Committee) is seriously concerned about females rights in Afghanistan. Females should be able to work, go to school, and move freely. As of August 2021, the response plan funding for women and girls has drastically diminished making them more prone to violence, child labor, and forced marriages. Since international support has slowly been fading away, almost 1 million children will miss out on education.

Despite the article referring to women and young girls distinctly why choose to rename your bookmark and pointedly refer to them as females rather than as the article intends? Your article covers rather dehumanizing issues so it strikes me as odd that out of all this your choice was to choose a word you could apply to any non human mammal rather than the women of Afghanistan. Did you not think that the article used the language "women and girls" for the reason of both humanization and to clarify that perhaps the rights of a female mammal weren't at stake here but the human population that happens to be female?

This article goes over the recent pardon of Arpaio and how it risks future racial profiling and violation of rights for citizens. Arpaio demonstrated harsh practices like keeping inmates outside in scorching summers, and working in chain gangs. He has already been in contempt of court for racial profiling and violating citizens' Fourth Amendment rights.

I'm not sure this Arpaio pardon will encourage others to racial profile for immigration purposes. Arpaio was the lead candidate for this kind of behavior and I'm not sure others are rushing to follow his footsteps .
