Perry Chiaramonte reports a study taken by the Center for Studies on New Religions, and quotes Robert Nicholson and Ryan Mauro on the subject of Christian persecution. Being a Christian is the most dangerous thing you can do in many nations, and Christianity is the religion of the powerless.

I must say, I am not at all surprised that this study shows Christians as being the "most persecuted group in the world." All throughout history Christians have been persecuted in one way or another, especially during the Middle Ages. It is sad, however, to see how far from that era the world had come, yet seemingly is now back-sliding to that.

This article discusses and gives a few examples of Christian persecution here in the United States. In the examples given, this persecution has been a result of Christians standing up for their beliefs by not providing services for homosexual weddings. These beliefs and decisions should be defended by the government as religious freedom, rather than persecuted.

This article talks about why church and state should be separate entities. It talks about how it is our right to follow any religion or none at all. To create a government that focuses on one religious group would cause discrimination against other groups as well as disrespect those of whom don't follow said religion. Keeping church and state separate also promotes the free exchange of ideas without fear of being persecuted for having a different belief. It is important to defend the separation of church and state as defending the 1st amendment right, defends personal liberties and promotes basic respect.
