Arpaio moves to dismiss racial profiling case - 4 views

  •
This article talks about how trump pardoned arpio. Arpio was being held in regards to him and his team detaining people based on their suspicion that those people were in the country illegally. It also talks about how arpio wants to run for office again

The issue in this article is definitely controversial, especially here in Arizona. I suppose the issue should be over; he was pardoned. As the article stated, nothing more can be done. People should not waste their energy over something they cannot change and simply move forward.
  •
This will only turn us backwards as a state,as a country. My mom was stopped on numerous occasions driving because the color of her skin,so I feel very strongly that him being pardoned won't be for the good or benefit of people just trying to live their daily lives.
  •
If Arpaio does follow through with running for office I can't imagine it being much different than his last period in office. Trump pardoned Arpaio for his mistakes. Arpaio might not have learned his lesson and may just repeat what he just did.
  •
This article can be taken many different ways. Arpio being pardoned is not something that is for the better of this state and as a country. Everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions, and when people are being let off so easily just as Arpio is, it is not fair for the rest of us.
  •
As the article stated, not much can be done now that Joe Arpaio has been pardoned. I do believe, however, that this dismissal ought to unify Arizona residents in the fight against racial profiling. Whether a victim of Arpaio's practices or not, he committed an unethical crime and is not only being "forgiven," but given the opportunity for a fresh start which does not follow the American justice system.

Gay Marriage: Personal Freedoms and Equal Rights - 0 views

  •
Article about Gay marriage and how it effects personal freedoms. Also about peoples feelings towards new laws.
  •
The new California gay marriage law has taken effect, and thousands of couples are clamoring to exercise that right at secular offices and religious institutions throughout the state. These thoughts were inspired in part by an email, received Monday, with a link to the New York Times review of a new movie, Chris and Don: A Love Story, about the British-born writer Christopher Isherwood and his life-long companion, the artist Don Bachardy.

Mounting Evidence Against the Black Lives Matter Narrative You HAVE to See - 0 views

  •
This article outlines how deceiving, and even ignorant the Black Lives Matter movement really is to claim that police are racist. A Harvard Law professor and his students conducted a experiment compiled of more than 3,000 hours of data, and concluded that in fact there is a race that is more likely to be shot by police, Caucasians, as there will be the least blow-back, or media coverage from the public about racial tensions, and racist police officers. The Black Lives Matter organization as of late is based off of the idea that police are killing in cold blood based off the idea that the victims are black. This idea is ludicrous and has been debunked several times before in the past. However BLM uses deceit and raises lots of money in order to recruit, train, and buy weapons for shooters such as Micah Xavier Johnson did in Dallas. The BLM organization has strong ties, and was founded by the Black Panthers, a known terrorist organization that targets Caucasians and police officers. It deeply saddens me that people can so easily tie themselves to a movement with such rotten foundations, which is deceiving millions of innocent people and taking advantage of them, using them as martyrs.

Police brutality has been an ongoing issue in America and does not seem to be solve any time soon. The article does state that there is somewhat progress at fixing the problem but the progression is very minimum. From King nearly getting beat to death to Brown getting gunned down by officer unarmed.

Trump Touts Executive Orders, Preparation for Health Care Repeal After First Week - 4 views

  •
This article briefly cover the changes that the new president has made in his first week in office.
  •
It does list all of the big-hitting topics in the news lately. The repeal of AHA, the TPP, the pipeline, and many other first week orders. I don't recall of any other president making so many drastic changes or attempts at drastic changes this early in their term.
  •
I worry about how fast he is doing things and that he isn't really thinking through consequences. I'm not a big fan of Obamacare, but when faced with that or nothing, I'd stick with it, at least until something better can be found to make sure everyone has access to affordable health care.

How Americans Lost the Right to Counsel - 0 views

  •
Yes, you have the right to an attorney, even if you cannot afford one. But do you stand a chance? This article mentions how court-appointed lawyers typically spend less than six minutes per case, thanks to the lack of funding of public defender's offices. What happened to equal justice?

Racial and Autism Injustice - 0 views

This personal experience demonstrates the lack of training our court systems have in recognizing mental illness. This mother's son was put in a tough position when officers, who were unaware of her son's Asperger's diagnosis, arrested him.

Police Powers - 1 views

  •
This site provides a lot of information on the power of a police officer. There are a few things I personally was not aware of. It is scary how much power they have. I like this site because it provides the steps an officer or yourself would take, beginning to end.
  •
I like that this website notifies you of what police can and cannot do. Not everyone knows the laws like we should so things like this can be a lifesaver. It is important to know when you are being taken advantage of even if it is an authority member doing so.

CPS Failed - 3 views

  •
This article is just upsetting. CPS failed to remove 3 children from their caregivers home after an officer reported concern, several other reports, and signs of neglect. Unfortunately, today only one of the three siblings are alive. CPS should be accountable.

  •
CPS should be accountable absolutely! In my opinion CPS pursues may cases that are unjustified and neglect the more serious cases that may take a bit more work. It is appalling.
  •
This story is upsetting. Within the first visit from a social worker there were countless red flags indicating the house is unsafe. The children probably feared of what the guardian would do if they spoke up. I feel all three of the children were too young and traumatized to even know what was going on. CPS should have taken these children into custody immediately, two lives could have been saved. Or at least do a random check up frequently to get a better outlook on the situation.
  •
This article is so heartbreaking. CPS should have done something from the beginning when they first started noticing abuse. I have experience with a bad social worker before when I was fostering a child. She was suppose to come every month to check on him but wouldn't show up for months. CPS needs to find a solution to get these social workers to do there jobs to protect these children.
  •
is heartbreaking how a little mistake can change a lot of people's life. In this case 2 children are death. CPS need to have professional workers that know how to identify the emotions of the kids. This case show us how life is unfair with some people and how sad it can be when some people don't do their job right.

Risk of being killed by police use of force in the United States by age, race-ethnicity... - 0 views

  •
This website shows the studies and statistics with the rates of police brutality for certain groups of people. This can be used to show how the abuse of power is being used to forward racism into this country even more.
  •
This article discusses how many people are dying because of mistakes that police officers make when trying to capture a person. Most of these officers make mistakes, but more often their mistakes cost an innocent person's life.

More Than Half a Million Migrants Have Entered Europe This Year - 0 views

  •
In the past year, Germany has taken the majority of migrants fleeing to Europe and is estimated to be approximately 226,000 people. In June, the Balkan route had been closed off but the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees still claimed that 20,000 people still made the journey. In addition, the agency reported that there could be 150,000 migrants that traveled over last year alone because they are still behind in their census.

Investigation: People shot and killed by police this year - 0 views

  •
This article provides information about the shootings done by police in 2015. It provides different situations that all lead to police shootings.
  •
This seems like a comprehensive collection of police shooting occurrences. When doing any research paper about law enforcement it would definitely be helpful. It is horrible that unjust killings exist.
  •
It is hard to discern the situation after-the-fact. Police officers are put into life-threatening situations but many times, they are dealing with someone who has a mental illness. In addition, the insurmountable evidence of police brutality is undeniable. I think we should re-evaluate our shoot first, ask questions later approach.

Is it right to violate the privacy of someone who is committing an injustice? - 2 views

  •
It is not illegal for someone from the government to violate your privacy. If they have a warrant or not they can still invade your personal life. If they do not have a warrant and find you not guilty then the police officer would be punished.
