Freedom to make bad decisions is inherent in the freedom to make good ones. If we are only free to make good decisions, we are not really free. I can assure you of this - once the government gains a foothold into regulating the internet, even for benevolent reasons, the wonders of the free internet will soon be a thing of the past.

I can not believe that people really place ads on Craigslist pretty much giving away or selling their children like pets. This article shows real ads that were placed to basically get rid of their children just the same as one would sell a dresser. Not only does this actually happen it is LEGAL!

This is just insane. It's unbelievable how something like this can be legal. Kids aren't pets or an object to be selling or giving away in a website. Although, towards the end of the article it does make a valid point, what makes us think that it's right for agencies to profit and make money out of these adoptions?

I didn't know this was real until I met someone that sold their child to a family in Italy. I can't imagine selling my kids. What is even more sad is that these people don't even know if their baby is really being cared for or placed in sex trafficking or the black market for some sickos.

One third of children in the U. S. is overweight or obese, and this number is continuing to rise. Children have fewer weight-related health and medical problems than adults. However, overweight children are at high risk of becoming overweight adolescents and adults, placing them at risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes later in life.

Obesity in children is often sad to see but it is becoming very prevalent in American society. In my opinion, a mixture of an extremely sedentary lifestyle as well as poor nutritional choices at school and at home contribute largely to this issue. Because children now have a multitude of indoor activities that don't necessarily get them on their feet and a lack of overall knowledge on what is a decent, balanced diet I'm not really surprised to see this issue skyrocketing.

In the recent DSM-5, the manual mental health professions use to diagnose a disorder, 'Gender Identity Disorder' has been renamed 'Gender Dysphoria' in order to make an attempt in changing the current perspective people have on gender. This change resembles that of which homosexuality was dropped as a disorder from the DSM in the 70's. While this is a huge strive for the right direction in the transgender movement, some changes still need to be made. The diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria only focuses on binary gender identities and does not show acknowledgement of nonbinary identities that some transgender people label as. A diagnoses is crucial for legal purposes, so if a nonbinary individual cannot be diagnosed they may not be able to access hormones for their transition or the legal changes they wish to make.

Over the past 8 years, there have been obvious assaults at United States citizens second amendment right to bear arms. Guns, especially assault rifles, have received an awful lot of scrutiny for people shooting one another, however in reality shootings with assault rifles account for only 2% of homicides in the United States. Meanwhile the rifles themselves are being blamed for the unstable people wielding them. Meanwhile knives account for nearly 14% of homicides, however no one is attempting to ban knives, as it is general knowledge that they are tools, just like guns. But the media is making every attempt to make guns the villains, not the wielders.

This subject has been plaguing our country for years now, and it's proven that most violent crimes don't happen with guns. Especially assault rifles, people aren't just carting around carrying around rifles everywhere committing crimes. They use what's small and readily available. Such as, knives, bats, handguns, or even just using their fist to get what they want.

Technology has and will always be a huge part of my life. Having grown up with a brother heavily into gaming, programming, and IT work I got to see first hand the in's and out's of how the web works. It all comes down to how you manage your own security. Of course, there will always be the paranoia of being monitored but that has been happening for a long time. It all comes down to being cautious with what you do alone and or over technologies.

This book captures the many facets of information gathering by digital dossiers. It reminded me of the recent unveiled programs called Tempora and Prism used by the United Kingdom and NSA. The extent of these programs capacity to siphon user data iset deeply guarded and not known in detail, however the dossiers gathered by our internet traffic on an individual basis should alarm users. I belive privacy is priceless, if I told my grandfather who passed in 2006 the extent we divulge our personal information on social media he would probably find it unbelievable. He was born in 1920 became an officer in the United States Air Force and served in WW2. The idea of privacy has changed with each generation. The way we perceive the handheld devices we all carry as young as the age of 5, may seem to our greatest generation who is currently exiting our society as a mere tracking device for big brother. I feel like every women should be guaranteed paid maternity leave. The government constantly wants us to re produce to keep the world going, so they should encourage women that they'll be fine with money and won't have to worry about missing work.

Maternity leave should be a MUST. Pregnancy is tough and the delivery is life changing. Mother's go through all different kinds of changes. It is unfair for a mother to have to go through these changes all while worrying about having to go to work and missing and wondering how her child might be doing.

I definitely that Obamas move to raise the minimum wage has caused more problems than it has done good. It's only created a sense of working less, doing less for more pay. People don't want to work hard, get an education, or persue a career goal in order to make money. It's seems more common that people just want what's easy and what gives them the most for their own selfish desires.

I don't think that interacting with police is what causes students to be more likely to go to prison. If the police are in the schools and positively interacting with students, I feel that the students are made to be more aware of their decisions. However, if it is one of the schools in a very poor community that has a high crime rate and a lot of drugs, then those kids are prison bound no matter if they interact with police or not. I am not saying all those kids are bad, but the bad eggs are heading that way regardless.

I personally have never been a fan of school uniforms for my own children but I can understand how they are warranted in some districts. Some parents may not be able to affront the things other students have making them feel inferior; this allows for everyone to maintain the same sense of self without being picked on.

I can see both sides to this issue but honestly I think that children should be able to pick what they want to wear appropriate of course but to be able to have that voice through clothing when they might not have a voice in general can do a lot of a child I think.

I definitely don't agree with this article. Its one thing to smoke cannabis. But drinking takes your body to a completely un-controllable state. And the younger you are the more naïve you become with making smart choices.
