Universally, there are about 168 million children who are working in labour. They make not even close to a dollar an hour and they don't even have time to attend school and to work on their futures. Terre des Hommes is dedicated to millions of these kids who have to take on the most dreadful kinds of child labour. For example, they are forced into prostitution and to be household slaves. They are also obligated to work in factories, mines and, plantations.

Today, close to 250 million children are working in the world. More than 150 million of these children are working in dangerous conditions. Additionally, each year more than 1 million of these children will be victims of human trafficking. Child labour refers to any work or activity that deprives children of their childhood.

This article talks about Indian being the home to the largest number of child workers in the world. It explains the reason why many families have to put their kids to work.

A follow up on the findings of The Fair Labor Association in regards to Nestle chocolate farms and child slave labor. The group has found that there is still a large child slave labor issue and the chocolate industry can not be counted on to fix it.
