I found this thread to be informative. It's sad that I am not surprised by how high the rates of bullying are. It is a truly horrible issue that won't be stopped until parents step in and teach their children how to treat others. I also feel that it's the responsibility of witnesses and school staff to report any bullying and make sure it is resolved, which seems to not happen very often.

Suicide is something that is a huge issue nowadays. So many people are affected by this illness. It is a huge Social Justice issue that needs to be resolved.

Suicide is definitely a major issue now days. I think there are a host of problems suicide/suicidal thinking can stem from; meaning that it in itself is not always the issue, but rather the result of other issues. I don't like the idea that "gun ownership deters crime." Criminals are criminals, because they don't consider the consequences of their actions. They don't evaluate if the person has a weapon, a child, or a dog. Gun ownership from my perspective only increases the likelyhood that one of those weapons is going to fire.

Gun control is a difficult topic to discuss. More gun control laws will not end shootings. On both sides of the spectrum, there are pros and cons to more or less gun control laws.
