many educators are using technology to engage students in project-based learning exercises that build 21st-century skills and motivate students with practical and hands-on-activities. The nonprofit Buck Institute for Education and Boise State University have put together resources to help educators plan, design, and implement such leassons. Guides and planning tools are available, as are a handful of examples of project-based teaching and learning strategies that have been successful in the classroom.

The categories are chatboards which can be by grade, subject and state; classified ads which are free teacher classified ads, classroom projects with hundreds of project ideas, lesson plans, teacher jobs, teacher mailings for teachers to subscribe to for free.

Mobile Geotagging allows users to post media (photos, video, audio or text) from a mobile phone to a specific point on a map. Flagr allows users to create public, semiprivate, or private maps. Great tool for teachers in many subject areas to enhance learning. For example, students studying habitats or different biological species can take pictures within their community and then send each picture band a description of where the habitat or species was found. In the classroom the teacher opens up the class flagr map and the students then identify the species and discuss why they were found in each particular habitat.

Allows teachers to turn basic cell phones into classroom performance clickers at no charge. Studetns can send poll responses and ideas achieved through bdrainstorming directly to an interactive webpage. An example of the use may be that when the students walk into class the teacher has a question on the IWB that students will need to respond to as their activating strategy for the lesson.

Photobucket allows photo sharing by students to a private mobile address. The classroom teacher needs to set up the account and give the students the address so they can submit pictures and messages to the address.

A good way to get students blogging in a safe, secure environment.

Mathematics is a live science with new discoveries being made every day. The frontier of mathematics is an exciting place, where mathematicians experiment and play with creative and imaginative ideas. Many of these ideas are accessible to young children. Others (infinity is a good example) are ideas that have already piqued many children's curiosity, but their profound mathematical importance is not widely known or understood. The MegaMath project is intended to bring unusual and important mathematical ideas to elementary school classrooms so that young people and their teachers can think about them together.

"Science News for Kids is a web site devoted to science news for children of ages 9 to 14. Our goal is to offer timely items of interest to kids, accompanied by suggestions for hands-on activities, books, articles, Web resources, and other useful materials. Our emphasis is on making the Web site appealing by offering kids opportunities to comment on and grade the subject matter, get ideas for science projects, and try out mathematical puzzles. At the same time, we offer teachers creative ways of using science news in their classrooms."

"Arcademic Skill Builders are free research-based and standards-aligned educational games! Engage and motivate students with our multiplayer and single-player games." As of August 2011 Academic Skill Builders has released 40 web-based learning games designed to help K-8 students build basic math, olanguage arts, vocabulary, and thinking skills. The games incorporate multiplayer capabilities in educational gaming. Studetns can play together in groups of 4, 8, or 12 at a time, promoting positive interaction and achievement. Educators can use the free arcade-like games with a projector screen, interactive whiteboard, or computer lab. Security safeguards ensure that no one outside the classroom can contact students who are playing the games. The games align with state standards and the Common Core Standards.

Sharing this again as there have been some additions to that that I think will be very helpful for teachers grades K-8.

The NASA for Educators page includes information abut NASA's various missions, as well as NASA careers, internships, and scholarships; image galleries and multimedia materials; and more. An education Materials Finder will help teachers locate NASA resources that can be used in the classroom; users can search by keyword, grade level, and subject.

Class parrot is in beta version but it is a free way for teachers to text students and parents quick reminders about school related issues.

When a teacher is looking for a new way to teach a student, a concept, or a lesson, the chances are the best resource is another teacher. On LessonCast, teachers share ideas and resources through screencast videos called lessoncasts. The LessonCast community connects educators with classroom-proven experience and great ideas.

Excellent resource based on the 3-part documentary by the same. Includes a host of varied resources on race, focusing particularly on its history in America. Wonderful interactives, background readings, and plenty to explore.

This tools makes monitoring student behavior easy. Teachers can set up their class and monitor and make notes on behavior with their mobile device as they move around the room.
