Great interactive game that presents real-life scenarios and requires students to determine if they are protected by Bill of Rights, then identify the appropriate amendment. Comes complete with a kid-friendly version of the Bill of Rights.

A double-entry website that has fully interactive text of the Constitution. Each article is broken apart with a specific explanation. From there, students can click on individual passages (usually as small as a single phrase!) to find detailed explanations. Amazingly thorough and in-depth, it has abundant history + law + citizenship uses.

"This lesson uses the four modalities of reading (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) on a math word problem to bridge the gap between reading and math. After a read-aloud from the book Math Curse by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, students create their own word problems with answers. Students solve each other's problems. As they reread the word problems, fluency and comprehension increase. Finally, students use the skills they've learned creating word problems to complete a crossword puzzle. As students read the math concept words presented in the puzzle and write the correct answers, their reading and writing math vocabulary skills increase."

Shmoop, a publisher of digital educational resources, has added pre-algebra to its list of free learning guides. The online Pre-Algebra Learning guides contain hundreds of topics with succinct explanations, diagrams, interactive examples, practice problems, and real-world applications. NationStates for Educators is a site that allows educators to create a nation to explore issues such as politicking, balaancing coompeting points of view, resolving ethical dilemmas, understanding politics, the nature of freedom, exploring the complexity of society, nature of patriotism. Different classes use NationStates in different ways. Some have designed their own "game within the game" systems, awarding points for students that achieve particular outcomes, such as being elected WA Delegate. Others use NationStates as a jumping-off point for discussion

The purpose of this resource is to provide "Just in Time" training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the National Eductional Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should prossess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discuver what studetns need in order to meet the NETS for Students.

This site is really nice. Many of the things we talked about in the grad class are covered here but the really nice thing about this site is that it take the NETS-T that we used and makes a connection to Marzano's 9 (Classroom Instruction that Works) and 21 things. It is really interesting. On the home page check out the two downloads of 21things and Marzano. On the right if you click on any of those categories, tools that can be used are presented. This is definitely one you will want to save in your own diigo library.
