Writing coach is a pilot program by Pearson, which is also getting a lot of use in Texas classrooms. With writing being a skill that many students need to hone, the timing couldn't be better for an educational tool like this to emerge. The PHWC is an online curriculum that guides teachers and students through a series of activities and projects designed to bolster writing skills in grades six through 12. It's flexible, personalizable, and will likely inspire many similar programs in the coming years.

This is another web tool that lets users select a specific portion of a video to play. The difference between this tool and the ones mentioned above is that it only lets you specifiy a start time but no end time.

This is also a great tool for cropping and slicing parts of a video to share with others. You can use to specify the start point of your video or to skip scenes, zoom in, annotate your video,and even play it in motion.

This is another awesome tool to crop segments of a YouTube video to share with others. Splicid is very easy to use, jsut paste the URL of the video and provide the start and end time of the segment you want to chop from the video and click continue.

This is my favourite tool which I have been using for a long time now. It is very easy to use and has a  student friendly interface. Just find the video you want to chop, select and cut interesting part of that video and share it with your students or colleagues.

Great presentation from Chris Lehman. What makes this presentation so powerful (besides the nice clean design) is the actual projects that are part of SLA. 

Senior Capstone Project from SLA: "The Capstone Project at Science Leadership Academy is an opportunity for seniors to show the culmination of four years of intellectual growth towards an independent and self-directed learner who can contribute meaningfully to the community. It will enable students to focus their interests and curiosity into a coherent representation of how they think and what they believe as they leave high school. The capstone represents a synthesis of the SLA mission and vision as students attempt to answer the questions: "How do we learn?" "What can we create?" and "What does it mean to lead" through a self-selected and designed independent project. As with everything we do, it should embody the core values of inquiry, research, collaboration, presentation, and reflection. The final product will look different for each student, just as each student has a unique perspective and approach to learning."

Web based screencasting tool. Easy to use.

Another web based tool for screencasting. I've never used it but it is by Citrix (the people who bring you Gotomeeting.com) so they understand web conferencing and video. 

Good cheap tool. It's web based and you really need the Pro account for editing purposes. 

Another screencasting tool. Jing is by TechSmith who makes Camtasia (the best tool but $300). Unfortunately/fortunately Jing limits screencasts to 5 minutes. Really forces focused video production which is actually a good thing. 

Screencasting tool. It's free and relatively easy to use. 

Interesting resource search/compilation project from a Google employee. The site is still in alpha form, but it has potential to bring together different resources from across the web easily. 

Very cool opportunity for exploring different cultural sites around the world using Google maps/iimages.
