he YAY MATH video project is a free service dedicated to meeting the growing need for math success in a POSITIVE, LIVELY, and CONFIDENCE BOOSTING way. YAY MATH stands as the only online video lesson series filmed in a live classroom, with real student interaction. Since its inception two years ago, and over a million YouTube views since, gone are the days of the "I just can't do math" style of thinking. It's time to evolve. It's time to re-invent our entire approach to success.

Virtual Nerd is developing some very interesting video tutorials. The videos are primarily symbolic and procedural but they are thorough , organized, and model notes accompany the videos.  they are in the process of developing physics videos. 

Math videos to help explain skills/concepts. Tends to be very skill based, but offers multiple takes on the same skill so if a students doesn't get it from one person the next might be a better fit, short videos makes it plausible that a student might use, GREAT integration of vocabulary. Well worth incorporating into classroom practice to help students understand how to use formulas or manipulate equations. Also they are GREAT models if you want kids to create their own.

Interesting approach to using flip in a mathematics classroom. I love having students create product rather than just solving problems. I would even like to see students create their own problems in the future. 

A video that uses production of the car, Mini, in Britain to reinforce math concepts like, ratio (lots of examples but one car every two minutes, or one in four cars are convertables), shapes used in production. Can be split into small segments.

Math instructional videos. Most are procedurally oriented, but the site has some promising aspects. There are a lot of resources and it does look fun. 

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) videos are designed to support states, schools, and teachers in the implementation of the CCSS. The videos were created in collaboration with the states in the Southeast Comprehensive Center region based on their needs for professional development support for the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. Each video is an audiovisual resource that focuses on one or more specific standards and usually includes examples/illustrations geared to enhancing understanding. The intent of each content-focused video is to clarify the meaning of the individual standard rather than to be a guide on how to teach each standard although the examples can be adapted for instructional use.

From the site, "Research and revise a wide variety of school subjects as Videojug presents tips and tutorials for a range of subjects across the school-board. Learn or re-learn English, Maths, Science , Modern and Traditional Foreign Languages, Sign Language, Politics, History and Geography. Between brain-teasers and fun experiments theres something for scholars old and new." Interesting take on organizing some of the many videos available on the internet. 

Anything from NASA will be slick. I'm a little disappointed in the videos about proportion. A 2 minute video and the mathematics is washed over in 13 seconds, and on top of that it's all procedural in nature (cross-multiply) with no explanation as to why it works. Other resources look more promising to me, but hope NASA looks into doing a better job of incorporating more conceptual development/understanding/explanation.

This is a great presentation. If you want to see how the best thinkers in the world are presenting their data, then take a look at this presentation by Hans Rosling. I think this presents a challenge to math teachers to have students look at data differently than we are now. I think the data on the income and child mortality rate is incredible. Such a powerful data set and it's a linear relationship!!

Powerful topic, poverty and patterns in data relationships over time, WOW. Hans Rosling uses some incredible statistical software to present the data, but the idea can be mimicked using some PP type technologies and creating graphs. The topic of poverty is explored in a very easy understandable way; I think high school students would understand the topic and love the idea. Make sure you listen to his use of the databases, and remember he is one of the premier statisticians in the world. He is changing how he presents data, and I think we need to listen to his message on this topic.

Modumath as linked from Wisconsin Online learning resources. Interesting videos of algebra concepts, not a huge library but well worth the exploration. You must join http://www.wisc-online.com/ to gain access, but it's free and very interesting.

Video lectures from universities across the country. Lecture is not the most engaging format, but a great resource for those interested in exploring topics in more depth on their own, but not a great model for engaging presetation for 60-90 minutes.

Great set of resources that might be interesting to people who want to explore some topics on their own, or want to include some aspects of the lectures in their classes. I think there is a HUGE potential for using this content some how.
