The purpose of this project is as easily stated as the task at hand is challenging: facilitating sustainable prosperity in Europe. Currently, economic growth is at the centre of European policy-making. Growth seemingly represents an essential condition for maintaining economic and political stability. It is also the root cause why policy today focuses mainly on efficiency improvements and the circular economy when it comes to tackling climate change.

Systems change on a huge scale is needed at this point in history. Many of our institutions, industries, organizations and professions were built in a very different context. A context where for example we believed that we could have constant economic growth, without fear of running out of natural resources. The concept of white supremacy was accepted. Women had clearly defined roles and were not seen as capable as men in the workplace.

E Emerging Prairie is an organization that focuses on energizing communities through innovative programming and events that move the needle and ignite economic growth for the state of North Dakota. The registry allows initiatives to showcase their activities and events to a wider public, search for appropriate partners across the nation, and learn from best practice examples of their peers. The site also provides free access to a rich database on the profile and performance of clusters and regional economies.

Community Builders, a project of the Sonoran Institute, aims to help local leaders build successful communities in the American West: communities with strong and diverse economies, quality growth, vibrant downtowns, and complete neighborhoods. These are communities that offer people more choices in where they live and how they get around. They provide a quality of life that attracts talent, and the businesses that seek it. These are places where people feel they belong to a community and have a shared commitment to its future.

the U.S. Economic Development Administration sponsored this project to develop new tools to support strategic economic development planning in rural regions. The goal of this work is to help rural planners assess their region's comparative strengths and weaknesses with respect to fostering innovation-based growth. The project's data and tools, however, can be used equally well in any type of region-urban, exurban, metropolitan or custom-based depending upon need and purpose.

Knight Soul of the Community is a new approach to community development and local economic growth, based on a three-year study produced by Gallup in partnership with John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
