    Together We Will:
Provide resources and guidance to empower everyday people to organize and act locally; whether new to community organization, returning to a new era of civil rights defense, or seasoned veteran of political and social activism, we will curate and produce resources to serve their needs.
Work to elect progressive government leaders in local, county, state, and national races who will defend our values and rights, with an emphasis on identifying and providing resources to prospective candidates of color, female, diverse in abilities, and from the LGBTQ community.
Radically include underrepresented groups in our leadership and membership, at all levels of our organization to explicitly combat systemic racism and build institutional equity.
Partner with organizations who do the above successfully and amplify their actions to give voice to the millions who have been silent for far too long.

PBNYC: The Challenges and Opportunities of Scale | Challenges to DemocracyChallenges to... - 0 views

  •
The PBNYC example reminds us that pilot programs are useful testing grounds, but promising experiments are unlikely to translate into large-scale successes without careful effort. Such a transformation requires shifts in strategy and tactics, matched with steadfastness in mission and values. Those interested in government innovation can learn a lot from watching PBNYC as it charts this course for participatory budgeting processes around the world.

In order for citizens to effectively exercise their voices in a democracy, they should be informed about the problems and choices that they face. SC2 home | HUD USER - 1 views

  •
Through SC2, 19 federal agencies work together in partnership with committed city leaders as they implement locally driven economic visions.

SC2 does not involve new federal money nor is it a top-down approach. Based on a city's local vision and its request for federal involvement, SC2 seeks to support each city by increasing federal-local collaboration and improving how the federal government invests in and delivers technical assistance to advance locally driven economic development and job creation goals.

Nonprofits Assume a Bigger Role in City Government - CityLab - 0 views

  •
But the good stuff only happens if these organizations know what the entire neighborhood actually needs. Sometimes they don't. And in those cases, it's not possible to vote them out or hold them accountable. If a nonprofit dissolves, it's hard to pick up the pieces quickly, because the infrastructure for a new organization has to be rebuilt from scratch.

Wikiblock - Dream it. Design it. Print it. - 0 views

  •
Wikiblock is an open-source toolkit of designs for benches, chairs, planters, stages, bus stops, beer garden fences, and kiosks that can be downloaded for free and taken to a makerspace where a CNC router (a computer-aided machine) can cut them out of a sheet of plywood. Most products can then be assembled without glue or nails, and used instantly to make a block better.

Roosevelt Institute - 0 views

  •
Inspired by the legacy of Franklin and Eleanor, the Roosevelt Institute reimagines America as it should be: a place where hard work is rewarded, everyone participates, and everyone enjoys a fair share of our collective prosperity. We believe that when the rules work against this vision, it's our responsibility to recreate them.

We bring together thousands of thinkers and doers-from a new generation of leaders in every state to Nobel laureate economists-working to redefine the rules that guide our social and economic realities. We rethink and reshape everything from local policy to federal legislation, orienting toward a new economic and political system: one built by many for the good of all.

50 State Solution - 0 views

  •
The 50 State Solution was conceived in early 2016 by California Forward (CA Fwd) as a transpartisan effort to build supportive infrastructure--and a platform for sharing information and ideas--among those working on political reform at the state level. While CA Fwd has served as the initiator and early catalyst of the effort, the vision for 50 State Solution is that it becomes an ongoing effort with shared leadership from the political reform community. The goal of the effort is explicitly not to make sure every organization is doing the same work or working on the same issue. Instead, the goal is create a learning community where reformers can share stories of success and failure, find allies, create coalitions and build community.

Americans know that government is broken. But Washington insiders will never fix it. Bureaucracy is their safe nest. They won't let the new president fix it either. That's why we must join together to demand a historic overhaul. The solutions are relatively easy- remaking government into simple frameworks that allow people to take charge again. What's hard is overthrowing the Washington status quo. It will only happen with your help...

Architecture of Place: Buildings that Work for People - 0 views

  •
Some may be surprised to hear PPS echoing a version of the modernist mantra "form ever follows function" (see principle 9), but it's important for us to remember what that phrase is really all about. When it was first coined by Louis Sullivan, it was a humanist idea: that the form of a building should serve first and foremost the human uses that animate it. But over time, as Jane Jacobs observed, the idea of function underwent a "drift from humanism to gimmickry."
