A Research Consultation is a one-on-one appointment with a librarian for extensive, in-depth research assistance. If you need more help than can be provided at the Reference Desk or from the Ask A Librarian service, you may sign up for a Research Consultation appointment. We will do our best to match you with a librarian who has some expertise in the subject area of your research. Appointments are generally scheduled between 8 am through 6 pm Monday through Friday, but exceptions may be made if there are extenuating circumstances. We will attempt to accommodate distance learners by providing consultations via telephone, online chat, or email.

ECAR simplifies complex issues, presents proven models, and reduces the risks involved in decision making. With an ECAR subscription at the appropriate level, your institution will have access not only to ECAR research but also to its annual symposia-where your institution's representatives can join experts from academe, industry, and other knowledge centers to discuss ECAR's research findings in small group settings. Recent research topics include student uses of technology, IT collaboration, identity management, and IT support for business continuity.

Save, review, and share your research with friends or colleagues. iBreadCrumbs allows students, researchers, and professors to organize the world's data into narrow research "breadcrumbs" or click-streams.

iBreadCrumbs is a recording toolbar for your Web browser. It records each site you go to while you are researching a topic. Pages that are not relevant can be deleted and notes can be added to the pages you elect to keep.

ERIC - the Education Resources Information Center - is an online digital library of education research and information. ERIC is sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education. ERIC provides ready access to education literature to support the use of educational research and information to improve practice in learning, teaching, educational decision-making, and research.

Annotated Bibliographies Definitions A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, websites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called "references" or "works cited" depending on the style format you are using. A bibliography usually just includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.). An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Depending on your project or the assignment, your annotations may do one or more of the following:

EBSCOhost Research Databases EBSCOhost is a powerful online reference system accessible via the Internet. It offers a variety of proprietary full text databases and popular databases from leading information providers. The comprehensive databases range from general reference collections to specially designed, subject-specific databases for public, academic, medical, corporate and school libraries. EBSCO Support Site EBSCO's Support Site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our FAQ database, tutorials, and user guides can provide answers to your technical questions. EBSCO Customer Support Representatives are also available by phone and e-mail 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (US EST). How to Use Help * When the Help icon Help Question Mark appears, you can click the icon and help for the screen you are on will display. * To obtain help for the database(s) you are searching, click the Help icon Help Question Mark to the right of the Find field and click on the Database name at the bottom of the left-hand side of the Help window. Database help is also available from the Choose Databases window. * To view the entire Help System, click the Help link at the top right-hand corner of the screen. The UCF Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Department is committed to supporting the research of UCF faculty members. In addition to interlibrary loan services, we offer a faculty document delivery service which provides scanned copies of UCF-owned journals and books held at the Circulation Desk for quick pickup. Document Delivery requests may be submitted through the ILLiad interlibrary loan system and are automatically requested via interlibrary loan if there is no copy available at the UCF Main Library. Research has demonstrated that an important factor in student success in university studies is the opportunity for students to work in groups. While many academics would like to include group work, there is often hesitation because of bad experiences when groups have fallen apart and have failed to complete the tasks or left the work to one or a few students who have felt badly put upon.

The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning is your host for your Academic New Faculty Orientation. The one-and-a-half-day event is scheduled for August 17-18, 2009 in the Student Union and Classroom 1 buildings on the Orlando Campus. Each day of the orientation is filled with important activities that will provide valuable information to enable you to have a successful start to your career at UCF. At the Academic Orientation you will meet the President, Provost, Deans, Chairs, Directors, and other new faculty. These days also include breakfast and luncheon events.

This article describes an ongoing informal study of a distance learning course that uses multiple emerging interactive media to increase and enhance students' participation. (The co-authors are, respectively, the course instructor and a doctoral student in education who took the course and conducted research on students' participation patterns.) First, we present the conceptual context underlying our vision of interactive media for learning; next, we describe the design of the course and the educational interactions this fosters; then, we analyze the learning outcomes that result from this instructional strategy; and finally we discuss the evolution of emerging interactive media. This structure parallels the "scholarship of teaching" framework presented in Randy Bass's article.
