It's about Chime (Science middle/high school) - 1 views

  •
The goal of It's About Chime is to have the students explore the mathematics & physics behind sound waves and wind chimes. The students will engineer chime machines that ride the wind to produce melodic tunes for enjoyment. This project offers a great way to incorporate a real world audience into teaching the physics and math of sound waves. The pitfalls of this may be the materials and time required, but the project is well laid out and has a great deal of resources.

Journey North Mystery Class: A study of sunlight and the seasons - 0 views

  •
The Mystery Class investigation is an eleven week hunt in which students try to find ten secret "Mystery Classes" hiding around the globe. The changing amount of sunlight at each site is the central clue. Students take an inspiring journey from knowing only sunrise and sunset times to discovering exact locations of the ten sites. Benefit: This sounds like problem-based learning at its best!

Wow T.O., This project sounds great! I think it is a great way to get our students to become problem solvers.

Free Technology for Teachers: Try WeVideo to Create and Edit Videos Online - 2 views

  • I discovered and tried WeVideo as an alternative to JayCut which was bought out and subsequently closed by RIM. At that time WeVideo was in a beta phase. Last week they opened to the world. Now anyone can create and edit videos online using WeVideo. WeVideo is a collaborative online video creation tool. In the video editor you can upload your own media clips or use stock media clips to produce your video. The video editor provides tools for trimming the length of display and or sound of each element you add to your video project. What makes WeVideo collaborative is that you can invite other people to create and edit with you. WeVideo offers four different user plans. The free plan allows you to upload your videos to YouTube and Vimeo but does not allow local downloads.

Finally! An alternative to Jaycut! I haven't tried it, but looks like there is potential here. If you try, please let the rest of us know how it works out.

Great job with the Prezi, AND with the information! From reading the other comments I hear you're going to add sound. That will be a great addition! Seeing this makes me excited to see the ways we can make prezis even more engaging than the kids already find them!
