The Great Commission is For ALL Believers - Bible Gateway - 0 views

  •
Matthew 28:18-20 is what many call Jesus' "Great Commission". It's the last command your Saviour and Lord left with you if you have the Holy Spirit of God living in you. The Great Commission is NOT a command to convert others NOR for professionals only. gfp (2011-09-18)

Four Paradoxes of Great Performance : The 99 Percent - 0 views

  • the paradoxical key to great performance – and leadership – is the capacity to embrace opposites.
  • Even the noblest virtues, standing alone, have their limits.
  • Honesty in the absence of compassion becomes cruelty.  Tenacity unmediated by flexibility congeals into rigidity.  Courage without prudence is recklessness.

  • 1. The Physical.
  • human beings operate best when we pulse between spending and renewing energy.
  • In our rush to get things done, it doesn't occur to most of us that intermittently renewing and refueling energy prevents us from relentlessly burning down our energy
  • The Emotional
  • most of us embrace the notion that confidence lies at the heart of success. Vulnerability and uncertainty are seen as signs of weakness.
  • it feels dangerous to acknowledge our limitations and difficult to admit we don't know the answer, much less that we got something wrong.
  • Humility comes from the Latin word "humilitas" which translates as grounded, or from the earth.
  • The Mental
  • we've long worshipped at the altar of scientific method and observable facts and admired rigorous, analytic left-hemisphere thinking.
  • we've paid precious little attention to cultivating the more subjective, imaginative, and integrative capacities of the right hemisphere of our brain, which is visual rather than verbal, and capable of big intuitive leaps and creative breakthroughs.
  • The ability to embrace both of these ways of thinking – to recognize that each is essential but neither is sufficient by itself – lies at the heart of whole brain thinking.
  • When we talk about spiritual energy, we mean the energy derived from serving a purpose larger than yourself.
  • far too few leaders in companies recognize the galvanizing impact of creating a shared and compelling sense of purpose
  • By contrast, we've found that people in professions such as health care, education, social work, and the military often run almost solely off spiritual energy.
  • Self-care is a prerequisite to being most effective on behalf of others.

Christians, Muslims & Jews: God Saves Us Only By His Grace ...NOT Our Good Works - Bib... - 0 views

  • Ephesians 2:8-10
  • not by works
  • For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works
    • Gary Patton

Yeshua (Jesus) Followers work hard for God! But, they do so moment to moment only after Holy Spirit draws them into relationship with Jesus and they choose to follow Him. They do their "good works" to glorify God out of thankful love for the salvation that He already has given them because of His loving grace and mercy (unmerited favour). And they do this only as he lives his life out through them as Jesus said in John 15:5 at http://diigo.com/0jvfh . Good works done otherwise i.e., in "the flesh" (pre-salvation habitual leanings), have NO value.

Ephesians 2:8-10 Almighty God clarifies His saving promise to us who believe in Him and what He has already done for us through Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf because of His great love for all men and women ...no matter what they've done. gfp (2012-02-04)

John 14:1-6; 22-27 NASB - Jesus Comforts His Followers - Bible Gateway - 0 views

  • Do not let your heart be troubled; [a]believe in God, believe also in Me.
  • I go to prepare a place for you.

  • I will come again and receive you to Myself, that (D)where I am, there you may be also.
  • “I am (F)the way, and (G)the truth, and (H)the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
  • You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?”
  • If anyone loves Me, he will (D)keep My word; and (E)My Father will love him, and We (F)will come to him and make Our abode with him.
  • But the (I)Helper, the Holy Spirit, (J)whom the Father will send in My name, (K)He will teach you all things, and (L)bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
  • Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. (N)Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

These passages from John 14 were shared by my Friend, Bruce Malcolm, at the Funeral service for my Mom, Ina Donelda Patton (aka Donnie (family) & Donna (friends). These passages confirm the eternal promise of Jesus to His Followers, of which my Mom was one, that they will spend eternity with Him in His mansions in heaven. Each human is a "spiritual being in a temporary earth suit". And, therefore, we each will live forever. The only question is where we will spend the non-earthly part of our eternity ...in what Jesus called "heaven" or "hell". The answer to that question depends solely on whether one chooses to believe that Jesus was "a liar", "a lunatic" or "Lord" of us all and "God Incarnate", His eternal "Son" who choose to die on a cross to pay the full penalty for our sin nature & sins which our "good works" cannot pay for. In addition to the above passages, another Friend, Adele Van Caulart, read Psalm 23 ...another source of great assurance of God's love and His peace for my Mom and me. gfp (2012-04-04)

Contentment With Power - Bible Gateway - 0 views

  •
Philippians 4: 11-13 makes clear that a Jesus Follower can "put up with" anything ...because of the power-source that lives within us. Please note that Paul confirms that he was "content with" not "content in" his circumstances. A Jesus Follower should never be "under the circumstances" in Christ! A great companion for this passage is Holy Spirit's similar promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 where the Greek also means "trial" as well as "temptation". gfp(2012-02-25) Striving to better oneself is NOT unBiblical and is encourages in many places provided we do it in Christ (John 15:5).
