When President Barack Obama arrives at the table Saturday morning meeting to discuss the Afghan war, he would face a long table of the top leaders. Digital Literacy Tour - 4 views

"At Google, we support the education of families on how to stay safe online. That's why we've teamed up with online safety organization iKeepSafe to develop curriculum that educators can use in the classroom to teach what it means to be a responsible online citizen. The curriculum is designed to be interactive, discussion filled and allow students to learn through hands-on and scenario activities. On this site you'll find a resource booklet for both educators and students that can be downloaded in PDF form, presentations to accompany the lesson and animated videos to help frame the conversation. From Mara Linaberger: Great discussion on the iPad everyone! Next Friday we will be launching an iPad pilot with 48 art, music and theatre teachers at IU1 as part of our ArtsEducator 2.0 project. You can read about our inquiry and preparation done this summer to get some practice in, and to think through some of the logistics these folks might face this fall with their own pad here: http://artsedtech.wordpress.com/ Our thinking was to have the teachers use the iPad as a personal tool first, then move to them as a tool for instruction. The logical step for some may be to then take the tool into student use while others may stick to it as an instructional tool. We'll be documenting our project online here.

Beyond PowerPoint: emerging technologies - 7 views

  •
"Are there alternative presentation approaches beyond PowerPoint, and which are accessible to small colleges? We explored this topic through a NITLE prediction market, which closed last week. As noted in our earlier post, researching that game's outcome triggered a wide-ranging discussion about presentation methods and technologies. We will address presentation methods in a subsequent post; here we will survey available technologies. The prediction market selected five, when it launched this past May:"

National Genographic Project Educator Community - 0 views

  •
The Genographic Project is a five-year effort to understand the human journey-where we came from and how we got to where we live today. This unprecedented effort will map humanity's genetic journey through the ages. If you choose to participate and add your data to the global research database, you'll help to delineate our common genetic tree, giving detailed shape to its many twigs and branches. Teachers can order Genographic Project Participation Kits at a special educator's discount, get free lesson plans related to the Genographic Project, and (coming soon) access other resources and discuss topics in forum boards.
