The LDA Rearch Committee works to find causing of Learning Disability. The LDA provides a knowledgeable interface between LDA membership and the medical and scientific communities. The Committee monitors scientific and medical literature, research grants, diagnostic methods and biological causes related to learning disabilities. The Committee brings salient information and scientific contribution to the LDA Directors and membership. The Committee also takes LDA concerns and goals which support research and regulations related to the causes of learning disabilities to the scientific community and to federal agencies and members of congress.

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. Network members consist of: 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD), 39 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Programs funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), 19 Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC), most of which are funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Development (NICHD). These programs serve and are located in every U.S. state and territory and are all part of universities or medical centers. The Fern Lab - The Fern lab is located in the Department of Neurology at the University of Washington in Seattle. The lab's research focuses on ischemic injury of the brain, in particular the neonatal/developing brain. Ischemia is the term given to a loss of blood supply and can arise due to obstruction of a blood vessel (leading to a stroke), or from factors that are currently not well understood but which produce the brain injury that underlies cerebral palsy.
