CDC Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) Program - The EHDI program at CDC supports states and territories in developing and implementing EHDI tracking and surveillance systems. These systems help state EHDI programs make sure that babies get the hearing screening, follow-up, and early intervention services they need.

The National Early Childhood Transition Center's mission is to examine factors that promote successful transitions between infant/toddler programs, preschool programs, and public school programs for young children with disabilities and their families.

Purpose of the purpose of this review was to compare outcomes between two strategies of surfactant administration in infants with RDS; prophylactic or early surfactant administration followed by prompt extubation, compared with later, selective use of surfactant followed by continued mechanical ventilation.

2010 Study - Increased morbidity in severe early intrauterine growth restriction.CONCLUSIONS: Infants born prematurely who are also severely IUGR have higher neonatal morbidity and mortality when compared to infants of similar gestational age. The surviving IUGR infants had less intraventricular hemorrhage and periventricular leukomalacia than less mature infants of comparable birth weight, but a similar incidence of ROP and length of stay. They had a higher incidence of NEC, direct hyperbilirubinemia and chronic lung disease, probably due to end-organ damage in utero from chronic placental insufficiency. These findings highlight the unique pattern of mortality and morbidity seen in infants with severe early IUGR.

NECTAC serves Part C-Infant and Toddlers with Disabilities Programs and Part B-Section 619 Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities in all 50 states and 10 jurisdictions to improve service systems and outcomes for children and families. Funded since 2001, NECTAC and its predecessor TA projects have a foundation of thirty-nine years of technical assistance excellence in early childhood services.
