California-based Katalabs has just released a free iPad and iPhone-friendly Web-based virtual world viewer, KataSpace, which works in conjunction with the open source Sirikata virtual world server software.
The mobile browser syncs all of your bookmarks, browsing history, passwords, and
even open tabs with your Firefox browser on your desktop. So you can pick up
browsing where you left off when you leave your desk.
The main reason why HTML5 is not the obvious choice for developers now is the above mentioned lockout when it comes to hardware. An iOS device does not allow different browser engines and does not allow HTML5 to access the camera, the address book, vibration, the phone or text messaging. In other words, everything that makes a mobile device interesting for developers and very necessary functionality for Apps,” Heilmann wrote.
I find this extension very helpful for consolidating large tab collections into one single webpage (and saving memory as a result). This single webpage can then be shared easily as a collection of links (no more copy-pasting of links needed!)... and there's even an auto-generated QR code for your recipients to view the links online!
Visually very impressive presentation. I was drawn to the use of words e.g. browser-based game (versus web-based games) since I was vetting some poster text on apps and was not altogether familiar with the right terms to use. Thank you Sally
The release lets user invite others to contribute to their magazine, and once the invitation has been accepted, contributors can submit articles, pages, and stories to that specific magazine either from within Flipboard’s app or through the browser bookmarklet.
D3.js is a JavaScript library for manipulating documents based on data. D3 helps you bring data to life using HTML, SVG and CSS. D3’s emphasis on web standards gives you the full capabilities of modern browsers without tying yourself to a proprietary framework, combining powerful visualization components and a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation.
Came across this Javascript library that can take in dynamic data from websites and convert them into all kinds of graphs and visualization maps. We could use this for our mind-maps too.
And it's free open-source!
There is no doubt mobile web has taken the world by storm. Even more people today are equipped with smartphones running on iOS or Android, both of which provide exceptional web browsing platforms. And this number is only expected to increase as the average population wages and growth rate expands.
However the process of designing and coding a mobile template can be very tedious. I’m hoping to provide a creative outlet in this gallery of 29 intuitive mobile designs. These are websites rendered in mobile browsers which have specific templates in place for these devices. Check out my examples below if you’re in need of creative ideas for your own design.
