Google () announced Wednesday morning that it has begun rolling out mobile editing for Google Docs (). The update isn’t yet available for everyone, but it should be available to all over the next few days.To date, only Google Docs spreadsheets have supported mobile editing. When the the update hits, all Google Docs documents will be editable on devices running Android () 2.2 (and higher) and iOS 3.0+.We’ve not been able to test it out yet, but Google has released a little video — as seen above — showcasing the new mobile editing capabilities of Google Docs.

Today, Google launched a new community on YouTube for Google Docs users to share tips and ideas for using Google Docs in education and other arenas. The community features how-to videos created by Google and by Google Docs users just like you. The video playlists cover everything from the very basics through advanced features of spreadsheets in Google Docs.

Beginning this week, you’ll be able to go beyond simply playing your videos within Google Docs -- you can now insert your videos into Google Sites, embed them anywhere on the web, and caption them for your viewers.

The Google Data APIs Objective-C Client Library provides an iPhone static library, a Mac OS X framework, and source code that make it easy to access data through Google Data APIs. Users have content across many Google properties: YouTube, Picasa Web Albums, Google Docs, and more. Now we have a common interface for your users to select Google content. The Google Picker API provides a familiar-looking dialog box that’s easy for you to integrate into your apps. Your users can quickly browse their own content without ever leaving your page or app.

And cruising Google Docs via the mobile browser has long been fine! But nothing beats a dedicated app—which is now an option for Android users.

Hangouts - the video chat feature - have come to mobile, currently supporting Android 2.3+ devices, and iOS support is "coming soon." Hangouts also now have an "On Air" feature, which allows any Google Plus user to tune in and watch. Furthermore, Hangouts now offer screensharing, a shared sketchpad, and names for Hangouts. But perhaps the killer app is Google Docs in Hangouts, which will open up the possibility of live collaborative work (especially once Google Apps accounts get access).

Using Bboogle, course instructors provide links within their CMS course sites to content they create in the @u environment. Google Docs - Share documents including spreadsheets, presentation slides, Google forms, and other file types, with students. Google Calendars - Share information including assignment due dates, test dates, class syllabus, and project deadlines on a class calendar that automatically appears in the individual electronic calendars of every student in a class. Google Sites - Share a course site that brings together all classroom materials including docs, calendars, photos, videos, attachments, and message blogs that can be presented to students either for viewing or co-authoring.
