In a fast changing world impacted by technological advances, language usage becomes "one of the factors being altered most drastically." And as language teachers, most of us feel language teaching has become inevitably bound to technology more and quickly. All this is talked about in "The Edtech Podcast" posted here. Listening through the lengthy audio discussion on how language learning is or can or should be equipped with technology one way or another, one can be happier to see "both sides of change: how we must adjust and what we can take advantage of."

There are a number of tools here that you maybe don't use but that look very useful - Read Later, Awesome Screenshot, apps for iOS and Android, and you can Save to Delicious if you want to cross-post your Bookmarks.

Good technology integration isn't about using the fanciest tool, it's about being aware of the range of options and picking the right strategy-or strategies-for the lesson at hand.

I have bookmarked this. I need lists like this so when I go to design my class I will have a place to look for the tool that I might need for some particular task or another.

Thanks for sharing this, Greg! I've noticed that trying to share 20+ video feeds doesn't seem to lead to anything productive, and has a tendency to cause connectivity issues on my end. For my upcoming virtual class meetings, I I'll ask students to check in on video/audio when they join, and then mute themselves for the first bit of class. I'll then shift them into small breakout groups as soon as practical, where they can complete activities with cameras and mics on.

I definitely understand zoom fatigue from experience. This gives me some thoughts to contemplate to approach this differently. I am considering an exit question each student must answer...

Any learning activity in which all learners are simultaneously participating is called synchronous learning. It's real-time, highly interactive, and very social.

There are four most common synchronous formats: traditional classroom sessions, on-the-job coaching, web-based classes, and, recently, live streams in social media.

Screencast-O-Matic is a good online tool to record lectures and presentations in an asynchronous class. I tried using this in my asynchronous class.
