    Hi Violeta, When teaching languages I think we need to read a lot about how to correct our students errors, and how to have them self correct. I have used some techniques, but since last week I realized that there is more outside to research. Check this one.. is good! Tarone, E. and Swierzbin, B. (2009). Exploring learner language.     I'm all about free resources! I especially like that there is a free Prezi guide b/c my students have to use Prezi for some of their projects, including one on the final exam, and it's tough for them if they have never used it before. That guide could really help in their understanding of how to use this tool.

      I agree with this author's idea. In my teaching experience using CMC to teach language, I can notice my students' progress i the target language. They express their motivation and even introvert students are more open to share their ideas.
  • Keep in mind that students who study languages with different orthographies may encounter specific difficulties during CMC sessions. Be prepared with creative solutions, such as suggesting computers and keyboards that accommodate the characters your students need.

    The author says that CMC helps in all of these areas, but doesn't provide any information about his sources. I think this shows the value of including links to other websites in blog posts about education!

      Now I can add a note and save it to the group. It should show up in the Diigo group page list of posts - with a colored bar alongside the note, or a little post-it note icon.

    If you are seeing this with the Chrome Extension - I'm discovering that there is no way to share your highlights and post-it notes with the group. Go back and install the Diigolet - instructions in Week 2!

      We often tell our students to avoid doing research online and to go to the library. However, we should be encouraging both. The issue with online is credibility of source. Students need to practice determining which are scholarly sources, worth of paper citation, and which are not.

  • social media can also be used to enhance teaching and learning and it includes varied online technology tools that allow people to communicate easily via the internet to share information and resources.
  • demonstrations focused on contrasting cases help students achieve expert-like differentiation
  • Start small. Find one movie, song, or news source and incorporate it into your class. Expand once you are comfortable. Provide a clear link between what you want your students to learn and the media. Care must be taken provide the proper learning context. It takes time to integrate media effectively into a course. This is not edutainment, it is the conscious use of media to enable students to learn more. Use the subtitles feature for visual media. This is especially useful in focusing student attention on the words being said. Be prepared. Technology does not work 100% of the time so have a back up plan. If the media equipment does not work, go to plan B and continue on with your class without missing a beat. Evaluate student understanding. Students respond to incentives. If you require them to write a reaction paper, take a quiz, or place questions on your exams that relate to the media content they will pay more attention and learn more in the process. Stay legal.
