Tom's ESL closet: Weblog portfolios in an intensive English program - 0 views

Trying out a nice feature of Diigo - you can take a screenshot of the website you are bookmarking. It does take up a lot of real estate, however. This would be great for use with PBL and CBL projects, as students could collect pages in a Diigo group and be able to scan them at a glance.

ePortfolios Help Clayton State University Assess Student Learning and Program : Campus ... - 1 views

  • Clayton State University's core mission is to provide superior career-oriented studies that will prepare its students to succeed in the world of work in the 21st century. A member of the Georgia University system with an enrollment of approximately 5,700, Clayton (www.clayton.edu) required its students to bring a laptop to campus as early as 1998. Now Clayton is introducing ePortfolios to campus, adding additional value to the students' use of their computers and providing a mechanism to document the outcomes of their education. Dipity - 2 views

  •
What does dipity do? It is a timeline maker, but you can use it to make a personal timeline of materials you create at other sites, such as Facebook, Slideshare, etc. This might be a good tool for haing students create a visual electronic portfolio. I would think you could, for instance, add an embedded Google doc or presentation, inter alia. Let the group know if you have tried this with students.

Teacher Training Videos | Introduction To Blogger 2014 | Blogs & Wikis - 1 views

  •
"These videos give you an up to date outline of using the program Blogger. They start off with how to create your first blog all the way through to adding more pages and authors to your blogs" R.Stannard takes you through the updated Blogger program. I have used Blogger for years, but now tend to just use Diggo and Scoop. It, the latter for the more reflective, pedagogically oriented discussions. Blogs are very helpful as a place for student portfolios, and are easy to tag and search.

Inspire Your Students with These 351 Visual Writing Prompts - Nick's Picks For Educatio... - 0 views

  •
"Visual Writing Prompts is a great source for engaging writing prompts. You can browse their collection of writing prompts by genre, grade, or subject area. The prompts are written directly on each image. "While it's a great source of writing prompts already, it is a site in-progress. They are in the process of adding additional information to each prompt. The prompts that have already been completed include a prompt explanation, an explanation of any relevant vocabulary and language, and a convenient one-click download button." I always used a set of images, culled over years of browsing magazines and newpapers, as writing prompts for various types of writing. This site has the prompts built-in, which can be an advantage for the busy teacher, or a disadvantage if you don't want to find something that precisely fits your assignment goals. You can also have students create their own portfolio of images and prompts to share with other writers. T/H to Nick LaFave.

Organize all your links and online resources. Collect, archive, and share in one place. The entry level tool is free. Can handle images and creative uses of page real estate. See R. Stannard's training video on this tool: http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/e-portfolios-iwbs/binder.html

About E-Portfolios - Mahara ePortfolio System - 2 views

  •
"An ePorfolio allows for building in reflective activities for learners and staff, through blog functions and the creation of 'Critical incident diaries' in which users reflect on their learning and experiences over a given period or activity. For example, this could be reflections on how a student dealt with a problem, or processed some new information on a given topic. This can become a two way process with a tutor or peer providing feedback via the same diary." A very short article speaking to the notion of "reflective learning." A must-read for all teachers.

Glogster - Poster Yourself | Text, Images, Music and Video - 2 views

  •
A blog for the young and young at heart (middle-highschool). This blog-makr really focuses on the visual, so your students can get very creative. Not for the visually impaired--or the impatient. It can take a while to load as an embedded widget. But it is fun to use their graphics, and you can upload your own photos and videos. Good for project advertisements.
