Looks like a great way to self-publish your own text, or have your students create an online portfolio of their work. Directions are very simple and clear, right on the frontpage., and the tool has a full suite of editing tools.

A place to make an "engaging Web portfolio." But not for fee--the Basic plan is $3.00/month.

Looks like it might be a nice, free place to create a media rich portfolio. Probably more oriented to high school-adult, given the professional look.

What does dipity do? It is a timeline maker, but you can use it to make a personal timeline of materials you create at other sites, such as Facebook, Slideshare, etc. This might be a good tool for haing students create a visual electronic portfolio. I would think you could, for instance, add an embedded Google doc or presentation, inter alia. Let the group know if you have tried this with students.

They start off with how to create your first blog all the way through to adding more pages and authors to your blogs" R.Stannard takes you through the updated Blogger program. I have used Blogger for years, but now tend to just use Diggo and Scoop.It, the latter for the more reflective, pedagogically oriented discussions. Blogs are very helpful as a place for student portfolios, and are easy to tag and search.

"Visual Writing Prompts is a great source for engaging writing prompts. You can browse their collection of writing prompts by genre, grade, or subject area. The prompts are written directly on each image. "While it's a great source of writing prompts already, it is a site in-progress. They are in the process of adding additional information to each prompt. The prompts that have already been completed include a prompt explanation, an explanation of any relevant vocabulary and language, and a convenient one-click download button." I always used a set of images, culled over years of browsing magazines and newpapers, as writing prompts for various types of writing. This site has the prompts built-in, which can be an advantage for the busy teacher, or a disadvantage if you don't want to find something that precisely fits your assignment goals. Great ideas for tools and their uses, categorized by media aspects, e.g., blogging and writing, photos, audio, PLNs, presentations, research databases, search, etc., with an intro to get you started. The list then continues with other, less frequently used tools, such as digital portfolios, Google drawings, notetaking tools, apps, etc.

Organize all your links and online resources. Collect, archive, and share in one place. The entry level tool is free. One use would be a CV online -- an easy way to build a website with links to all your goodies. Similarly, students could create tabs for all their research on a topic. "An ePorfolio allows for building in reflective activities for learners and staff, through blog functions and the creation of 'Critical incident diaries' in which users reflect on their learning and experiences over a given period or activity. For example, this could be reflections on how a student dealt with a problem, or processed some new information on a given topic. This can become a two way process with a tutor or peer providing feedback via the same diary." A very short article speaking to the notion of "reflective learning." A must-read for all teachers.

A blog for the young and young at heart (middle-highschool). This blog-makr really focuses on the visual, so your students can get very creative. Not for the visually impaired--or the impatient. It can take a while to load as an embedded widget. But it is fun to use their graphics, and you can upload your own photos and videos. Good for project advertisements.

Another place to create an ejournal or online magazine. Allows you to display ezine at their homepage, free.
