SimplyBox is a great way to add some Web 2.0 to your research. This would be esp. useful with group orjects where students can then look at what each other group member has found. Use SimplyBox for Education, and get the free app (also has district or school-wide standardization for a fee). The teacher couldstart the ball rolling, and have students join in, boxing their own sites and info. Esp. good for visual learners. This age has three good help videos: Overview, Sharing, and Twittering with SimplyBox. Fairly easy to use, once you get used to it.

Not only excellent video lectures, but extraordinary support, with transcripts, subtitles, quizzes with answer keys,lecture notes, labs, downloadable materials, and the opportunity to join a study group, etc., depending on the course. Over 2700 courses in science, humanities, engineering, architecture, etc. Also good for teachers preparing to teach ESP.

"The Works Museum offers teachers three lesson plans and two Powerpoint presentations that can be used before and after a class visit to the museum, each focusing on the engineering design process." Nice lessons for ESP teachers.

An extensive series of videos on such topics as the structure of the cell. Great for ESP in molecular biology, genetics, anatomy, and other biology topics.

R Byrne's blog tells how to use the Interactive Westher Maker with students, and links to other interesting virtual science sites. Not specifically ESP, but should work well with kid learners.

The Japan Virtual Science Center has Webby Award winning science videos and trials where students can experience phenomena. A great place to support ESP learning and STEMs in your classroom. Some videos are animations for younger learners.

This is really about how to make a good presentation, but with ad jargon. Might be useful when older/advanced students are getting ready for an ESP presentation.

English for Child Care Language Skills for Parents and Providers This is by a friend and collegue in California and should be an ESP of interest. Free download.

This e-book is free from British Council and is quite short, but contains important chapters on secondary and adult language teaching with technology, ESP, EAP, assessment (co-authored by Russell Stannard), and professional development.

Free book (pdf) from the British Council, written by Gary Motteram. Probably published early 2012. Has sections on primary education, secondary, and general adult language education, ESP and Business English, EAP, and assessment. Nice examples from real classrooms.

This remarkable concordancer has many quick and easy features, such as seeing visually with a graph the frequency of occurences of a word, quick links to the word embedded in a corndance, and indications of "good" and "bad" uses of a word. Stannard doesn't talk much about the pedagogy of the tool, but it is well worth exploring, esp. with your more advanced students.

This has great videos on how to teach a wide variety of subjects, as well as how to manage students' behavior in class, set up collaborations, assessment, and esp. for US teachers, the common core standards. Very useful for teacher training, though not specifically oriented toward ESL/EFL.

The concept is easily adapted to a higher end technology, using blogs or wikis. These might be private, with only teachers making responses, or open to classmates so that the comments run freely. Yes, students really do improve by free writing in quantity, esp. as they will be corrected and guided by the teacher elsewhere in the course.

"Online degrees and video courses from leading universities" - many of them free. There is a modest serach engine, but video is great way to learn more about a subject or for a teacher to train herelf for an ESP class.

TEFLclips is a site dedicated to the possibilities for YouTube and other video sharing sites in the classroom. Every week a new lesson plan is uploaded. This looks like a good site for online lessons, esp for business English.

Another excellent set of exercises by Mauricio Aldana. This one includes Brain Teasers, Assumptions and Context, and Key Questions to Exercise Critical Thinking. The latter looks esp. appropriate for online reading.

This is an annual report on trends on the Internet, mapped over a Tokyo subway map. So a very popular company, like Google, is located this year (2009) at Shinjuku and Twitter is at Shibuya, "the station with the biggest buzz." Go figure. Might have interest as a brain teaser or mind puzzle, esp. for students with some knowledge of the Tokyo train system.
