May 5 to 6 2008 Barbados' National Cultural Foundation hosted the Caribbean International Conference on the Cultural and Creative Industries in order to stimulate discussion at the level of policy, programming and successful case studies.

For more than 8 years we provide our international network for arts and business. The website and the monthly newsletter became popular among professionals in the arts and the creative sector. With its global perspective, our network is a valuable resource for academics, students, researchers, regional and national authorities, business people, and journalists. As studies of African and Afro-Caribbean performance have acquired a wider relevance during the last decade, it is now time to examine the diverse critical approaches currently being practiced within these fields. How are African and Afro-Caribbean cultures being constructed, analyzed, and re-imagined by recent discussions about theatricality, transnationalism, diaspora, translation, Circum-Atlantic exchanges, or cyberspaces? The conference's program will bring together a diverse array of presenters from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States who deal with topics that include--among others--dance, drama, community theater, the links between social justice and performance, rituals, religious events, diasporas, carnival, and intercultural barterings.

ICACD Secretariat was established in 2005 as an advocacy body committed to pushing forward cultural considerations into the policy development framework of Africa.

The Congress on Research in Dance (CORD) provides opportunities for dance professionals from a broad range of specialties to exchange ideas, resources, and methodologies through publication, international and regional conferences, and workshops. We encourage research in all aspects of dance and related fields and promote the accessibility of research materials.
