Dance Films Association, Inc. (DFA), a non-profit, tax-exempt, member-supported service organization, promotes excellence in dance on camera and public awareness of the artform through its annual Dance on Camera Festival, Dance Film Lab, publications, grants, and workshops. Its many partners help to bring its touring programs to a wide public. Dance on camera is a collaborative art, one that fuses the ageless art of dance and the century old art of film. DFA aims to impart that spirit of collaboration to the world and to encourage a keen awareness of the magical ways to interpret time, space, and energy.

We are the national service organization for professional dance. We believe that dance is essential to a healthy society, demonstrating the infinite possibilities for human expression and potential, and facilitating communication within and across cultures. In 1982 the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, UNESCO, created International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on the 29th April. The date commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727 - 1810), the creator of modern ballet. Every year a message from a well-known dance personality is circulated throughout the world. The intention of International Dance Day and the Message is to bring all Dance together on this occasion, to celebrate this art form and revel in its universality, to cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together in peace and friendship with a common language - DANCE.

The Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA) is a national arts service organization dedicated to serving the professional dance community in Canada.\n\nThe CDA exists to facilitate the dynamic exchange of information relevant to Canadian professional dance of all forms and aesthetics.\n\nWe strive to cultivate a strong national voice for Canadian professional dance and to support the development of resources for this field of artistic expression.

The International Theatre Institute (ITI), an international non-governmental organization (NGO) was founded in Prague in 1948 by UNESCO and the international theatre community. A worldwide network, ITI aims "to promote international exchange of knowledge and practice in theatre arts (drama, dance, music theatre) in order to consolidate peace and solidarity between peoples, to deepen mutual understanding and increase creative co-operation between all people in the theatre arts".

South-South.info has as aim to offer a general view of the main contexts of exchange for contemporary dance in the countries of the southern part of the planet, including information on the principal festivals, spaces, articulators, publications, etc. With this initiative we intend to stimulate and facilitate international exchange, cooperation and circulation of artists and ideas from South to South.

As studies of African and Afro-Caribbean performance have acquired a wider relevance during the last decade, it is now time to examine the diverse critical approaches currently being practiced within these fields. How are African and Afro-Caribbean cultures being constructed, analyzed, and re-imagined by recent discussions about theatricality, transnationalism, diaspora, translation, Circum-Atlantic exchanges, or cyberspaces? The conference's program will bring together a diverse array of presenters from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States who deal with topics that include--among others--dance, drama, community theater, the links between social justice and performance, rituals, religious events, diasporas, carnival, and intercultural barterings.
