How do you all feel about items/weapons like these being readily available and advertised?

As long as he is following all the rules that come along with manufacturing and selling weapons I feel like he should be able to do it. Yes a flamethrower is a little on the extreme side but as long he is staying within the realm of the law I feel like it should be allowed.

Flamethrowers are like guns so if the person buying the flamethrower is able to buy a gun then they should be able to purchase this as well.

Even if his approval rating drops at all, I don't believe people are going to stop saying he's a "great" president.

I think it's interesting that the article claims Americans are bracing for a recession. We have a record high DOW Jones stock, unemployment is decreasing (more than 20 million new jobs since 2010), and Americans, in general, have more money in their pockets than we did 3 years ago. https://ig.ft.com/sites/numbers/economies/us/ It also piques my interest that the article claims the Trump approval rating as a whole is falling. After the democratic debates, Donald Trump has only increased in followership, rally attendance, etc. This is the reason people keep saying he's a "great" president. You might not like him as a person, I might not like him as a person, but if he continues to put a dent in the public debt, and continues to uphold basic constitutionalist ideals, he will continue to see success in America. I think it's interesting and I predict that the 2020 election will play out very similarly to the 2016 election. The democratic party did everything in their power to stop Trump from becoming president. Both Republicans and Democrats alike turned to personal attacks and scandals. Even if all the candidates are bad, we have to pick the best one. Trump was able to win against the Democrats because they didn't have any solid plans with evidence for the policies they wanted to implement. Trump has an upper-hand because he's never changed too. Democrats have flipped like no other when it comes to policies because they are desperate to be approved of by the younger masses. Trump has always supported a smaller government, focused on the economy, and wanted stricter foreign relations. The same cannot be said about Democrats, their talking points are that of enabling a welfare state, stripping citizens of their 2nd amendment rights, and their false sense of acceptance. tl;dr: orange man bad, but doing his job well.

If you want to bring up biology, I'd like you to know that it is possible to be a female bodied individual with three X chromosomes, a female bodied individual with one X chromosome, a male bodied individual with two X chromosomes and a Y chromosome, a male bodied individual with one X chromosome and two Y chromosomes, etc. And what happens when a transgender individual actually has the bottom surgery? What then? Do you seriously want to say that they are still women (if they were born female) or that they are still men (if they were born male) even though they have the sex organs for the opposite sex? Would you still say they should be in the barracks of the sex they were born with? Would you still say that person should use the bathroom of the sex they were born as? If you really want to convince me that I should not serve in the military because of my gender identity, you need to bring in stronger arguments and better sources.

Airstrikes don't know an innocent child from a dangerous ISIS member. These weapons are effective, but are quite a dangerous way to clear out areas populated with noncombatants. This story and stories like it are exactly why the US can be easily pinned as the bad guy. If you were a Syrian and your child was killed by US bombs, are you gonna be angry at the ISIS members who hid near you, or the people who murdered your child?

I don't think Hiliary had the right to go and meet the Russian president like that and then write a book on how much she didn't like Trump. When I don't like someone and they make my skin crawl I can't do anything about it but since she is rich and former White House 1st lady she can?

You actually can do things about it. And yes, she can. She is allowed to say that Trump made her uncomfortable.

I actually think almost the exact opposite. While I think Hilary went a little overboard, she had every right to do so, as stated in the first amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." And if it wasn't in Hilary's right to write that book and state her personal opinions on this matter, then what gives us the "right" to bring back nazis and treat others as second class citizens, saying it's all opinion and just exercising their free speech? And yes, you could do something about it, and many people are doing something about it. Hilary is just much more likely to get noticed and was noticed by the press because of her status.

True true. The definition of terrorist is, "a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims." This person may not have been pursuing political aims, they may have just been trying to cause a ruckus.

It's sad how Florida and other states, plus the Caribbean island, are going through a devastating event.

I agree with their choice not to resuscitate him, no one would joke about that and have it on their body permanently.

I feel that this man is smart. It said that there was alcohol in his system so maybe he was a drunk so being drunk can cause you to misplace items so he took the action to get "Do Not Resuscitate" on his chest so when the doctors checked for his information they wouldn't find it so when they did open his shirt they would know not to resuscitate him

If people are harassing Anglin, then it should not be protected by the first amendment. The first amendment says that the government can't stop you from saying what you want, but there are still consequences for everything you say.

It complicates the case that Anglin isn't the one leaving these harassing messages HIMSELF, but his followers are. Does he have to take responsibility for their behavior since he was the one that called them to action and gave up her contact information online?

People are getting so upset about disrespecting the flag even though we do it everyday; And the only reason this has any attention is because the kneeling was used as a form of silent protest by an athlete of color.

While the article is about South Africa, many of it's points ring true for America. Education, when you think about it in the deepest manner, is not really about Education; it's about proving you'd be a good worker, and not much else. But I'm curious to see what others think.

I agree with the article about how schools should focus on building democratic citizens, instead of just good workers. Young people need to know their rights and how they can impact the country, and some places don't do a good job teaching children those things. I've personally learned a lot about my rights in government class, so I think our school is doing a good job.

I believe that the education system in America is mainly about passing more than it is about learning. I feel like I'm working a job and the assignments that I finish are just to get the job done. However, I believe that when students actual learn, understand, and are amazed by different topics, that is the true point of education. In all, while this article was about South Africa, it shows how we shouldn't be focusing on being a good worker but how we should be focusing on becoming better citizens.

Regardless of where you end up on this issue, it is good to see young people taking part in government for our own community.

I also think its good that students are trying to make good points on why they shouldnt own the MAC. There taking a part in this and trying to stop it. But will it help? We will see later on....

If he has enough gumption to tell Emily that he is disappointed in her for collecting signatures from uninformed student then he should have enough knowledge to know that we won't know whats going on if we aren't educated on this topic and that it is the generations above us job to educate us and pass on what they have learned to the younger generation. So if he is disappointed in Emily then he should also be disappointed in himself for not doing his job.

I personally believe that the mask mandate should not have been lifted. Yes, some people are vaccinated but there are not enough people vaccinated for herd immunity to work well. I also believe that she should have just waited to lift the mask mandate. We have gone through this whole school year wearing masks and for that to change overnight is just confusing to understand. She should have just waited until schools got out for summer and then lifted it if she really wanted to.

I think the maks mandate should have been kept for a little longer, at least until more people are vaccinated

North Korea has always been an issue and I think they should keep an eye on them. We've almost always had issues with them it's hard to imagine being allies with them like that.

North Korea has always been a threat to the U.S. because of how unpredictable they can be. We have literally always had problems with them.

Is this the time or should we still keep the mandate and restrictions up until after the pandemic has officially ended? (Vaccines are done and no new cases.)

I think its good that the mandate is lifted.

I think its fine they lift it as long people keep getting vaccinated, but they should definitely keep the mandate in hospitals and places like that.
