I don't think she should have been kicked out for expressing her opinion about the squad. There are so many people who do that especially about teachers.It doesn't effect how anyone is i.e bullying/ harassment these are just things that she thinks about the school and the sport.

I believe that the coach had the right to kick her off of the squad. Her speech may have been protected however sports while they may be connected to the school ultimately if the coach decides that a participant is setting a bad example for their team they will be kicked out.

I feel like the coach should not have had the right to kick the girl off the team because she expressed her feelings. The girl did this outside of school and it happens daily everywhere it is just never reported to the coach.

i think he was right to kick her off the team because the speech wasn't appropriate and that represents the teams, but i also think that she had the right to say what she was thinking, just not in that way. if he kicked her off for expressing her thoughts in a different way, then that would not be okay.

In my opinion the coach should not have been able to kick her off the team. She was simply expressing her emotions and feelings about school. Many students say stuff like this in school and don't get punished for it.

I personally think that kicking her off the team was the right decision. Her speech directly affected the team, the coaches, and the school, and action needed to be taken so it was clear that inappropriate conduct won't be tolerated. If she had worded her thoughts differently, maybe the outcome wouldn't have been the same.

I feel like they shouldn't punish her. She was off school and had the right to voice her opinion. The school can't do anything if she wasn't even on school grounds.

I think in this specific case they shouldn't have kicked her off the team because she was expressing how she feels. She didn't say anything offensive and she wasn't specifically targeting people. If what she said was targeting someone negatively or she was targeting the coach then maybe it'd be a different story but she was vaguely expressing her feelings and I don't think there is anything wrong with what she said.

I don't think she should be allowed to be kicked off for this because with something like this there isn't really anyone in specific that this is aimed towards so there's no targeted harm.

I feel like they had a right to kick her off of the team. I'm on a competitive dance team and if I say anything that bashes or offends people at or people that work at my studio, then I would be kicked off of the team. She posted a photo saying that she's done with cheerleading and that is definitely something that would cost her a spot on the team.

I feel like that is the right to free speech and she shouldn't be punished, but at the same time if its F School and F Cheerleading then why do it? Why participate in it then? Seems stupid on her part and disrespectful to the team, which I can see why she should also get kicked off. Because they don want someone like her representing their team.

I think that it was right for them to kick her off because on a team you want to have responsible and respectful teammates. What she did affect the wholes teams image so I agree with what was done

I think that we are going in the right direction more people are following mask rules. Of course some people will not but that is to be expected.

With masks now seen as a political statement and the many people who are not going to get the vaccine, I am very pessimistic about COVID going away as soon as people want it. With President Biden's new plan we should have enough vaccines to get everyone in America vaccinated. But from what I've seen there are just too many people who don't wear masks and won't get the vaccine.

Just because some restrictions are being lifted, it doesn't mean that things are getting better. By lifting these restrictions in restaurants, movie theatres, etc. we are actually making covid cases go up, ultimately making things worse.

I think that things will in time get better, but it will defiantly take some time. Simply because no one was really ready for this pandemic to hit and so people who were struggling before are struggling worse. My hope is once the vaccine is widely rolled out things will really start up again.

They should take into consideration how well the teacher is doing at helping students get feedback and help, some teachers are not doing their part when students ask for help. Both students and teachers have to be working hard to communicate effectively and if one falls out it could cause students to flop more

Learning at home is not fun at all. Some teachers try and incorporate students at home, but then the students do not comply, but then some teachers don't even involve the students at home. It is extremely hard to stay focused at home when there are many distractions at home. I am not surprised at all by this statistic because we need to be in school. They need to shut down bars and restaurants before they even consider shutting down schools.

Learning online is much more difficult than in person. It's harder to stay focused. It's harder to keep up when most teachers focus only on the students who are in the classroom. Although I still think we should continue to keep A-F grades because some colleges aren't accepting pass/fail, and pass/fail affects your GPA.

I dont think we should change the A-F grading system, but I do think we should change either the curriculum or be more understanding and lax on the grading scale

I have noticed that online school is much more difficult than in person. Its hard to stay motivated and get all of your work get done. I feel like the teachers should try to include the online students a little bit more than they do. It will help keep everyone engaged and learning the things that they need too. I think there should still be an A-F format but maybe make it a little bit easier to take some stress of of students.

I think that the way that grades are being made is becoming more unfair, The way people get grades is based off of assignments instead of actually knowing the stuff, it is based on memorizing instead of learning. There shouldn't be an A-F, there should be a pass or fail based on knowledge, not assignments.

I think that doing work online is much harder than in person because I think I lose motivation to really do anything because some teachers feel like we are not really there and ignore us. I think we should still have A-F's because they are good but I wish the grades were curved a little because of these hard times.

Online school has its setbacks, but I feel like it's manageable. School has been relatively the same despite the setbacks, and I appreciate our teachers not giving us an overabundance of work to do. And the work they do give us helps with class. I feared that this year would be hard because everyone said the junior year is the hardest, but this has been like any other year.

I agree, with Michael, I thought this year was going to be really hard too, but I think the teachers have done a good job helping students when they need it, and have layed off on homework. Although it is hard to do online work, it is managable like Michael said.

I believe in our grading system, but for the pandemic there need to be some changes. This year has been a crazy rollercoaster and because of that, I think we need to slow down and take a step back. The school needs to lighten up on assignments and focus more on if everyone is understanding the material.

I never have F's but this year was my first year failing a class and I feel like online school is definitely one reason why, I don't even know what I'm doing in that class tbh. some teachers just don't do good enough to help us learn at home.

I have learned that online school can be quite difficult for some people. The grading system should at least be altered to help students keep up.

I definitely think that this year has been hard, especially with school and the stress of being virtual. But I think teachers have done a really good job of trying to help students and try to be interactive with the online students (In my case at least,). We should keep our grading system, and maybe we could improve on being more flexible with grading.

I think that we should still have A-Fs. I do think that because of the pandemic there should be some changes, but I think that we need to have A-Fs especially for the kids who worked hard to get good grades it wouldn't be fair to them for trying hard and not getting credit.

I think that having A-Fs are still a good idea, but we need to be adaptable in what it means to earn these grades. Stress and anxiety have been really hard this year and it wears on not only students but teachers as well. Teachers have been really trying to help their students and we should appreciate that.

Last year, we learned about the dangers of not containing this virus. I also think the U.S. should join the UK in helping them. I strongly feel that India should go on a breathly lockdown. The virus could spread more than it already is. With caution and responsibility, I feel like the numbers would go down by a lot. I think for a country like India it's more complicated then just going into a lockdown. They have a population much higher than countries that have been able to successfully have lockdowns which makes it inherently much harder. On top of this India socioeconomic makeup make up is substantially poorer than countries that have had lockdowns as well. For a lot of India's population a lockdown just isn't viable, and you can see this in what happened in America as well where poorer people worked through lockdowns and because of this in poorer areas COVID spread easily. However this is a large portion of India's population, so this is an area where America needs to start exporting our extra vaccines since we have already had major success in our vaccine roll out and this is a grave situation

I think India needs to go on a heavy lockdown. It's important that they take a lot of precautions because the virus could spread more than it already is and prevent another world lockdown from happening and keep other people safe. It would also help their numbers go down and to keep the threat of it spreading contained.

With the severity of COVID in India, I think they need to come up with a strategic plan to control the virus. Whether that means a heavy lockdown or something else it's important they do something now before it gets even worse. They are in a terrible place right now with the amount of COVID cases and I don't think anyone wants to know what it will be like if it continues to get any worse.

Understandably the severity of COVID-19 is extremely high, but India is also a third world country that relies heavily on their work force to bring in any kind of revenue for their government. In a country like India the governments respect for the residents is slim so while they should go into lock down I don't believe they will.

I think they have been alright. At least, according to this article, he isn't spreading too many lies. Only 3 out of 20, which isn't the best, but could definitely be worse.

Bidens first week can be monumental if you're on the left-leaning side, President Biden has changed a lot of bills backed by Republicans that were signed during Trump's term in office. But if you're on the right-leaning side his first week in office has been a clear sign of what his presidency will fulfill. Whether the Pipeline or 30+ Executive orders he's signed off on. I feel as if bi-partisanship will be quite difficult during this administration.

Honestly, the mandate is lifted (for Iowa at least) so if you do not want to wear a mask, vaccinated or not you shouldn't have to. It is your choice. And you should especially not have to have the vaccine to travel and put something in your body not proven to be safe or cause long-term effects. There are bigger problems to worry about than if Americans will lie and say they're vaccinated to not wear their mask especially if it's not mandated in the area.

I am interested in how the cases will turn out now that more people are not wearing masks. If it gets too bad I'm sure something else will be put into place.

i don't think that people will be honest about their vaccinations only to not wear their mask. not everyone carries their vaccination card with them(although we should, i know i don't)

I have still seen people on social media that have admitted to not wearing masks and not getting vaccinated citing "My body, my choice". This is idiotic and people think that the government is out to get them and control them by wanting them to wear masks and getting the vaccine. There are also people who don't trust the vaccine for no good reason.

I don't think many people are out there being honest. Many are going to think that if it isn't required why would they wear one? It's a lot of trust on something you don't have a definite answer for.

People are going to lie about being vaccinated, just like they lie about having a medical exemption. All we can do is hope that people will be honest.

There are many things Trump has tried to convince people. It is very unlikely that there is voting fraud by millions of thousands. It is going to take more than just saying that to make it true. He needs to find evidence that this has been proven true. If there is then I could see his point, but without it, it makes it hard to believe.

i am so glad biden is looking into and wanting to clean energy, carbon neutrality by the middle of the century, and massive federal investment to drive these changes. i think that is great and we need change is this environment

I think that it is a good thing Biden is going to rejoin the Paris climate agreement again. It will only help this country become cleaner.

If I didn't have sports to play and could watch an artist I enjoy for free I would participate in a study like this. The reason being I'm healthy and all of my friends who have gotten the virus said it felt like a cold. (I know this isn't the case for all people of course)

I think I would try and avoid an experiment like this. Don't get me wrong, it sounds interesting and enjoyable but even if I could listen to a band I enjoy, there is always going to be a looming fear of me getting the virus. I wouldn't be able to focus on the music.

I would volunteer to do this study because I think it would be a cool opportunity to see where you can get COVID and where it is mostly at. I would absolutely volunteer just for the experience and to see what is around me and to see if we could actually use something other than masks.

I would not volunteer because its dangerous enough trusting some masks material to protect you from spreading or receiving the virus. As nice as a free concert would sound, it would be too risky to make it as a test. If they used something other than humans (or easier to maintain animals) for testing, it could make tests less worrisome when post-results are gathered.

I would do it because I know that I can't die from the virus, so I think it would be cool to find out how quickly it actually spreads and how many people are really effected by it

I believe that traffic cameras cause many people to become fearful of red light intersections. Because of their fear, they sometimes don't pay as much attention to their own surrounding

i think they should get rid of the traffic cameras. ive almost hit someone bc they slammed on the brakes unexpectedly. they can be hazardous

This is why I believe that stimulus checks are necessary. Yes, many Americans would be left without an income if a lockdown was put in place, but that's why a stimulus check would be helpful. In my opinion a nation wide lock-down will not do anything but harm. There are still millions of Americans that have not been able to recover form the first wave of lock-down, as stated in the story up above. And i know that a huge counter argument is that the government can just pay us more during a lock-down. While that is true that would put us further and further into debt that we are struggling to get out of. A Lot of it comes down to the people, by that i mean that people have to take others into consideration, wearing a mask, social distance. That way Americans can still go to work and provide for their family's without the help of the government.

I agree with you Zoe, but in order for that to work, every country would have had to do a lockdown. and sadly we didn't know the severity back then so people still had an excuse to be ignorant.

I believe a full lockdown is necessary if people ever want to go back to living their lives as "normal" again. There are plenty of other countries living covid free as they did a strict lockdown in the beginning, as we should have done. A few weeks of a strict lockdown isn't going to kill us just as it didn't kill anyone in the other countries where strict lockdowns occurred.

I feel like another lockdown would help if not eliminate the virus but like last time not everyone cooperated and if history shows that it won't be worth locking down again then there's not really a point. Another impact of locking down like some comments and brought up is the economy getting severely worse than it already is. In a perfect fantasy land bills would freeze, everyone would get stimulus checks that wouldn't run out and the virus would go away but that is all super unlikely if another lockdown occurs.

I think that going into lockdown or some kind of restriction would help slow the spread of the virus, but not stop it. People would not cooperate to stop the spread of the virus completely. Other countries that had strict Covid restrictions are doing much better than the United States, and some have even eliminated covid completely. If the US could do that it might work, but the economy would still get worse during the lockdown.

If the outbreak is getting worse I think that we should do some sort of lock down. Maybe some restriction so that less people are in large groups so that we can control the virus.

things are starting to calm down more than before and were just learning to live with it as we do any other virus. With the vaccine now people are going to feel safer and hopefully, it actually will be saving lives. If it gets worse a shutdown may be the best option, but right now learning to live with it is the better option.

I think we could go on lockdown again but there is no point anymore because we should of done that right away when it first started and people are getting the vaccines already so it doesn't really matter if we do or don't.

I don't think we need a full-scale hardcore lockdown, we do need tighter enforcement of mandates and stricter punishments for not following public safety, I get people don't want to, but that one person who didn't wear their mask could end up getting your loved ones sick, if everyone just followed guidelines we would get out of this funk sooner

The country is divided over the false binary of financial and health security. Reopening is not enough to ensure economic prosperity, but setting a lockdown is also not enough to contain the virus and prevent needless death.

Another lock down would just cause more discomfort and an economic fall. With people not being able to work it would be very difficult to keep the economy great and balanced. If another lock down was to occur more people would be bothered because they just want to go back to normal life.

I personally don't think we need to go on full lockdown again especially since the new covid vaccine. i think that it's okay to lift some rules and regulations on public places, but we still need to wear masks and stay safe until the pandemic is completely over

If we went into a lockdown our economy would suffer tremendously and there is no point. If we go into lockdown then I don't really see the point of all of the vaccinations and all of the other mandates we have.

Having another lock down would just put the United States into a far worse situation. More people would lose jobs, more people would go into debt, and our economic status would fall tremendously. I dont think we should go into lockdown because if we expose our bodies to the virus steadily and take vitamins and antibodies our immune system will be stronger and get closer to fighting off the virus.

obama is a good man, and is trying to be a hero for the middle and lower class. If it wasnt for the republicans blocking every move democrats try to make and making our nation more inefficient than a classroom filled with apes, maybe by now our economy would actually be fixed, but no people cant come together for more than a week for the good of a whole country.

The cartoon seems to imply that the "middle class" people have more to lose than they could gain/ can hold on to. While the wealthy are continuing to prosper significantly.

I believe this gap is closing and most likely will work because theres enough people that want to close the "gap" and there will nolonger be a huge money gap anymore

The "fuzzy math" section of the article is interesting because the statistics happen to be true. However, incorporating more ideals aligned with Socialistic ideology may not be the worst thing that could happen to this country.

"The richer are get richer" I believe that taxing the people who get higher income wont solve anything, I think that everyone should be equal. If the government starts taxing the wealthy then many middle class wont try as hard to get a higher income because of the higher taxes they will have to pay.

If we try to fix the "gap" of our country then the "gap" will continue to grow, if everyone came together for everything we would live in a perfect world, it wouldn't be fair if we had higher taxes for the rich, because some of them have worked hard for their money and it's not fair to tax them because of that.

I strongly disagree with Obama that the wealthy should get taxed more. What happened to "fair, open and honest?" It's not fair to those who succeed in life to have to pay more taxes for someone who failed or dropped out of high school.

the tax situation is a good point but instead of paying said amount we should pay a certain percentage of our wage. so everyone no matter how much they make will put forth the same "share" of their wage and everyone will be happy. i mean seriously, does that multi-millionare really need any more money? heck ill be happy with just one million.

I think that Obama is trying his best to help out his country, but he needs to make more effective decisions.

I agree with broxton, if taxes were based on a percentage of the income of a person, it would be fare and easy, no one could complain because you're only paying according to what you earn and not according to what is expected.

I think the cartoons implying that Obama uses the middle-class and everything he's "going" to do for them as a bridge to stay president and win America over, when in fact he's making matters worse for the group he is supposedly "helping".

i have to agree with broxton it makes sence to have a precent of ur wages be taken out. so some one working a part time job is paying a little bit and a person like warren buffet is paying alot abit but the wealthy well always find a way to wigil there way out of paying. always hav always will.

I agree with Brock. I think there should be a percentage coming out of our income because it wouldn't be fair if we tax the rich more and the poor less just because they are more successful. Most people were raised differently and they have had more (or less) connections to get them to where they are now. It doesn't seem fair at all.

Our middle class is beginning to diminish because we are either rich or we are poor. In the role of gender, men have more opportunities to have more pay. Taxes are different based on pay, the more you make the more they take.

I feel like Obama just talks about the stuff that people want to hear, yet he does nothing actually about the problems. Who cares if you can talk for almost an hour about a situation but don't do anything about it. I don"t think so, After all can you really say it's fair for someone with more means then responsibilities to pay a much lower overall percentage then someone with more responsibilities then means? I think that there is no way to make this kind of thing 100% fair but it is fairer to look at this kind of thing as percentages then as flat numbers.

The rich shouldnt have to pay more because of their success they took their opportunities and made the best of them. of course many might have had the same opportunities but just didnt take them. or some simply didnt have the opportunity at all. the middle class will have a few struggles here and there, but in the end i think everything will be alright.maybe.i hope.

This seems like a moment in American history where choices have to be made that everyone may not agree on. People are forced to use their money on others even if they don't want to. I hate the idea of being forced to use my money, but, the idea that people would rather the poor die and move out of the way is worse. No matter what, the choices are really difficult and can harm more than help. In the future we'll all look back on the results and hope they were for the better.
