Sie können beispielsweise nummerierte Listen anlegen, nach Spalten sortieren, Tabellen, Bilder, Kommentare und Formeln einfügen, Schriften auswählen und vieles mehr. Und all das kostenlos."

"Sunbird und Lightning - zwei Kalenderapplikationen aus dem Hause Mozilla. Sunbird das alleinstehende Programm, Lightning die Erweiterung für Thunderbird. Bisher konnte man diese in Verbindung mit dem Google Kalender nur mit einer Erweiterung synchronisieren. Die Wege für Sunbird und Lightning beschrieb ich ja bereits ausführlich. Nun bietet Google die Kalenderverwaltung via WebDAV an. Was wird anders, was ändert sich für euch? Prinzipiell ändert sich nichts. Wer bereits Lightning oder Sunbird in Verbindung mit dem Google Kalender und der Erweiterung "Provider for Google Calendar" nutzt, der kann eigentlich weitermachen wie bisher. Wer allerdings gerade eh Sunbird oder Lightning neu einrichtet, der sollte diese Anleitung lesen - denn per WebDAV kann man einige Schritte sparen. Ich beschreibe anhand von Sunbird - die Einrichtung von Lightning ist identisch." Eine deutschsprachige Anleitung zum CalDav Einbinden des Kalenders in Lightning oder Sunbird (die "standalone" Lösung) vom Googlewatchblog. Fakt ist - durch WebDAV benötigen wir keine gesonderte Erweiterung wie bisher. Nachdem man Sunbird gestartet hat, muss man einen neuen Kalender anlegen (Datei | Neuer Kalender). Dieser Kalender befindet sich logischerweise in einem Netzwerk mit dem Format CalDAV.

"Five years ago, we launched a conference based on a simple idea, and that idea grew into a movement. The original Web 2.0 Conference (now the Web 2.0 Summit ) was designed to restore confidence in an industry that had lost its way after the dotcom bust. The Web was far from done, we argued. In fact, it was on its way to becoming a robust platform for a culture-changing generation of computer applications and services. In our first program, we asked why some companies survived the dotcom bust, while others had failed so miserably. We also studied a burgeoning group of startups and asked why they were growing so quickly. The answers helped us understand the rules of business on this new platform. Wenn Sie an Ihrer Schule plötzlich ein interaktives Whiteboard bekommen, werden Sie wahrscheinlich eine kurze methodische Einführung von einem Mitarbeiter der Herstellerfirma oder von einem eigens dafür ernannten Kollegen erhalten. In dieser Einführung werden Sie die grundlegende Bedienung erlernen; außerdem wird man Ihnen eine Menge toller Spielereien vorführen (unvermeidlich: Google-Earth), die Sie als Whiteboard-Anfänger/in allerdings in Ihrem Unterricht kaum brauchen werden. Sie planen eine Stunde, in der das Whiteboard zum Einsatz kommt. Die Stunde wird jedoch in die Hose gehen, weil Sie viel zu viel Medienschnickschnack eingebaut haben, der Sie völlig von der inhaltlichen und pädagogischen Arbeit abhält. In der Phase, in der es gerade mal richtig gut läuft, müssen Sie das Whiteboard zur Erheiterung der Klasse neu kalibrieren. Sie beschließen, erst mal auf "konkrete Unterrichtskonzepte" zu warten. Wenige Wochen später haben Sie vergessen, wie man die Whiteboard-Software bedient. In der Fortbildung (6 Monate später) sitzen Sie und werden wie 80% Ihrer KollegInnen denken, dass es eine herkömmliche Kreidetafel für Sie doch eigentlich auch tut.

RAFT (Remote Accessible Field Trips) provides the possibility for students to participate in field trips from remote locations. This paper reports on two studies to test the RAFT concept. The first study used video-mediated communication (VMC) to allow students to communicate with experts. The second study tested students' experiences of using off-the-shelf technologies to transfer data while assigned with specific roles. Participants were school students aged 11-18 years. The findings showed RAFT resulted in high levels of interest and was both positive and engaging for students. An increase in student interest in topic (p < 0.05) was reported in the second study. It is argued that these aspects of RAFT are of benefit to students and further developments are discussed.
