Instead of an old style news editor sitting in their office deciding what hundreds of thousands of their readers are going to read about or what millions of viewers are going to watch on their televisions we now have random individuals coagulating around an idea and creating content simply because other people are willing to pay attention to it. Instead of the world being presented to us through the filters and 'judgment' of a relatively tiny amount of editors and their editorial teams we now have the world being shown to us by content creators who have managed, by whatever means, to bring attention to their work. post anything tool...twitter is just for text, diigo is for websites, tumblr is for quick posts for all sorts. water aid uses it. This is one of those things that may have to be played with later on. I would focus first on getting my learners trained in co-creating video, get a twitter (to learn & share) keep sharing on diigo.

ChangeThis :: View Proposal - 0 views

  • Society is in flux. The global economy is in meltdown. Education is in turmoil. Why? The world has, and is, changing faster than we can keep up. One of the reasons for this disconnect is our insistence on teaching our young people in the same way that we ourselves learned. We're teaching as if there were a dearth of resources, when actually we're spoiled for choice. 'Digital literacy' is a term much debated, but which allows us to grasp hold of an important concept. Literacy in the digital arena just isn't the same as it is when sitting at a desk with paper and pencil. But how is it different? And what can we do about it? Allow me to suggest some ways in which we can come up with a workable definition for 'digital literacy' and show you methods by which we can educate our young people for the blended digital/physical world they do, and shall, inhabit!

      WOW! - synchronicity! - synergy!
  • "Businesses built to operate in the Networked World are as different from the Industrial Age models as a computer is from a multi-plane camera. Networked organizations are more biological than industrial. They resemble their employees more than their employees resemble them. They are highly adaptive, mobile, open, sensitive to their environment, and ultra-responsive. They continuously evolve, nurtured by a steady stream of intelligent input from inside and outside the organization. In a networked organization, where good ideas originate is not half as important as how–-and how frequently—those good ideas become reality. Good managers don’t try to control their brand’s narrative but, rather, to foster an environment in which it can be liberated, expanded and unleashed across networks. The emphasis is not on following a script, but on improvisation."

ChangeThis :: Leading with Agility - 0 views

  • “Learning Agility, which has four dimensions—Mental Agility, People Agility, Results Agility and Change Agility—is a key to unlocking our change proficiency. In fact, research studies by CCL, Mike Lombardo of Lominger, Robert Sternberg and his colleagues at Yale University, and Daniel Goleman point to Learning Agility as more predictive of long-term potential than raw IQ. Learning Agility is a complex set of skills that allows us to learn something in one situation and apply it in a completely different situation. It is about gathering patterns from one context and using those patterns in a completely new context so that we can make sense and success out of something we have never seen or done before.

      mmm, could this not be applied also to website communications? - why focus on text? - it's like appealing to one type of learner. Sometimes, even with the clever use of words, there is enough room for interpretation. Video gives a more accurate range of tonality and emotion!
