Answers to The Silver Lining Audio Conference Questions - Scott Anthony - HarvardBusine... - 0 views

  • Process frequency. At many companies, strategic planning and portfolio management is an episodic process that happens quarterly or annually. In turbulent times, strategic planning has to happen more frequently. Kill rate. As times get tough, many companies have to de-prioritize some projects in their portfolio. Companies should make sure they focus on an idea's true potential, or else they will accidentally sacrifice ideas with great long-term potential (see a recent excerpt from The Silver Lining in BusinessWeek for more on this topic) Focus on "loving the low end." Most companies generally default towards providing better products or services to demanding customers. In tough times, companies have to figure out how they are going to compete for increasingly value-conscious customers. Ask whether you have any explicit strategies focused on "loving the low end" of your market.

Scenario and Visioning Work - 0 views

  •
"In our scenario and visioning work, we need to clarify whether our focus is to find one image of or pathway to the future or to create forums for generating many of them. In my understanding, the processes involved in generating one overarching vision and many diverse visions are different (although similar and in no way mutually exclusive). We may work on one image, just to show that a good future is truly possible. Or we may create multiple visions to open a space of possibility that may have juice for diverse people, projects or perspectives. Or we may generate a very generalized vision which inspires diverse people to create their own specific version of that. And so on. Here are various approaches to visioning and scenario work."

post anything tool...twitter is just for text, diigo is for websites, tumblr is for quick posts for all sorts. water aid uses it. This is one of those things that may have to be played with later on. I would focus first on getting my learners trained in co-creating video, get a twitter (to learn & share) keep sharing on diigo.

mmm, could this not be applied also to website communications? - why focus on text? - it's like appealing to one type of learner. Sometimes, even with the clever use of words, there is enough room for interpretation. Video gives a more accurate range of tonality and emotion!
  •
that's why I keep on insisting on tapping into the under-used video to be part of your comms ;-D pester power ;-)
