I don't disagree when it comes to Facebook pages and accounts made with school in mind but there should be a line between personal Facebook use and public. Facebook lists could be a way of getting around this or even Google Plus circles.

Ugly Learning « Educator, Learner - 0 views

  • When a teacher flips for the first time, students are put under the microscope and they hate it…at least in my experience. They have to unlearn how they have been learning playing school up until your class. Needless to say, student surveys usually do not go well the first time they are asked about the new style.
  • Do not define your teaching by the grades of your students.
  • Do not sacrifice what you know is right for your students because of a number on paper.

Vidque allows users to grab videos from YouTube, Blip.tv, TED, and Vimeo to put into their own collections that they can share with others. You could also think of it the way TechCrunch did in describing Vidque as video bookmarking."

Why the Facebook Group My Students Created for Themselves is Better than the ... - 0 views

  • It bears mentioning, too, that it’s not necessary to “friend” students in order to interact with them in a group.  Furthermore, if the group is set up as a “closed” group, as ours is, then access is restricted to people who are invited by the group to join, as I was.

What does it mean to be digitally literate? Trusting the ever-controversial Wikipedia, a product itself of social media, we have this: Digital literacy is the ability to effectively and critically navigate, evaluate and create information using a range of digital technologies. It requires one "to recognize and use that power, to manipulate and transform digital media, to distribute pervasively, and to easily adapt them to new forms".
