    I stumbled upon this article on Yahoo and clicked on it because the title intrigued me. I believe this article is rhetorical because it is planned. The word choice is thought out and the topic is explained to those who are previously uninformed. It is responsive and evident by the slew of comments further down the page. Also, the article address the contingent issue of whether genetically alter babies is ethical. This piece shapes knowledge because I learned facts I didn't know about, as well as I'm sure other people learned.

    Weird, definitely a contingent issue though. If people found out you were a genetically modified person, you would probably be labeled a freak.

    This image is rhetorical because it is obviously planned and adapted to an audience. It reveals human motives to be more environmentally aware of the actions taken with usage of water. It addresses the contingent issue of how citizens treat the environment and how we are wasteful with certain resources. This ad appeals to pathos because it directly shows how it affects fish and other creatures who live in the water we mistreat. Also, it is kairotic because this ad came out around the same time as the BP oil spill. It can be used to support the fact that, many times, we don't treat water respectfully and not only does it affect our lives, it affects the animals' lives as well.

    We spent some time on lady gaga and this song is supposedly a statement against human trafficking. Definitely rhetoric in the way that it is planned and in how it is answering the subject of human trafficking.

    This is a creative approach in portraying rhetoric! It's definitely planned out and is responsive! It's also adapted towards an audience through persuasive approaches (i.e. visual appeals).

    Please tell me you remember this commercial?! Jif peanut butter has situated ethos because it is already well known. With the slogan "Choosey mom's choose Jif", they use an enthymeme assuming that ordinary mom[s that don't care as much would choose peanut butter that wasn't as good. The rhetor also uses pathos by showing two cute little boys sharing thier favorite snack, tugging on the audience's emotions.

    I agree with everything present in the commercial. I think the rhetor of this commercial is trying to show the importance of pathos in advertising. Jif peanut butter is clearly trying to appeal to normal middle class families with young kids. I think this ad is effective because it shows people that normal families just like them use Jif, almost like a social norm in society.

    These pictures are very moving and the author intended it to be that way. The pictures appeal to the audiences patriotic side at times and also appeal to sadness or great respect. I know it is long but these pictures are truly worth taking your time to look at.

    These pictures are so cool and powerful! I think so many of them appeal to pathos and the emotions of the audience due to both the sadness and the triumphant feelings that the pictures give off. Great visual rhetoric example! Totally worth looking through.

    This ad's kairos is definitely times right, during the super bowl when everyone is drinking beer. Also, it has a lot of pathos in the way it shows a cute little puppy with his big strong horse friend.

    Calls for an end to police brutality echoed down Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Jersey City Saturday afternoon. "Stop police brutality!" and "No justice! No peace!" were some of the chants repeated by about two dozen protesters, both young and old, as they marched more than a mile from McAdoo Avenue to Martin Luther King Plaza around 1 p.m. This is definitely in response to the police brutality, which helps identify it as a rhetoric piece.

    I believe that this is rhetorical writing. With smokers being the primary audience, it seeks to persuade them to quit by informing them of all the reasons why they should stop. This article also states facts, builds community for smokers aiming to quit, etc.
