The study looks at how child sexual abuse can tie in with adolescent abortions to influence adulthood. The study that was done was a 25-year study of the heath, development and adjustment of 1,265 New Zealand children. Studies showed that if higher rates of abuse were shown, then high rates of pregnancy and abortion developed.

It mentions literacy in regards to working as an athletic trainer and effectively communicating with athletes. It shows that literacy is essential in the sporting world. Involvement in athletic training should come with great physical literacy skills.

This article was a study was about childhood cancer survivors in Sweden. It gives statistics about what type of education the survivors acquired and then how many of them were employed. The article then discusses how much each of the survivors is making working in their profession and how their schooling was a direct affect on that number.

"Adolescent Exposure to Alcohol Advertising in Magazines: An Evaluation of Advertising Placement in Relation to Underage Youth Readership." Journal of Adolescent Health 45.6 (2009): 626-33. In this study, it was proposed that the alcoholic drinks that are most often consumed by minors, are often put in magazines as advertisements that underage men and women are most likely to read. The study took place between 2002-06 and the results were not friendly. It was obvious after the study concluded, alcoholic drinks popular to minors were frequently put in the magazines with higher youth readership. Alcohol companies are focusing their ads to seek out the younger crowd through the popular magazines they choose to read. Although just an abstract, it will make a good reference on studies that have gained valuable research.

It gives a couple strategies that have proven beneficial. For example, students should take frequent breaks for bathroom, etc. Also, visual schedules for class have been proven to be key. In addition, it touches on the idea of color-coding for visual learners.

A study was performed that evaluated the effects of sending text messages and using the Internet right before bedtime on children. The researchers at the Sleep Disorders Center at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J found that the use of these technologies right before bed can have negative effects on kids' sleeping patterns. These then impact their daytime functioning and psychological health. This lack of sleep results in poor cognitive functioning and disorders such as ADHD. The amount of texting and online use before bed should be limited and monitored by parents.

They focus on the grades 7 through 10. They use a three step program to see the growth with the students. Also they control what goes on the in the class room and talk about what they discovered. Results show that home resources, individual behavior problems, and attitude toward mathematics were related to growth in mathematics. It also talked about how if a student started in a higher level math class there was not much growth difference.

In England they are talking about changing how they teach math within the classroom. They want to close the gender gap in math by changing how teachers teach their lessons. The school boards want to switch from a simple lecture and memorizing to a more hands on so that may the girls could have a better chance of catching up. Harvard is looking into if this is a good idea to do because they are having a hard time figuring out why males excel in math compared to females.

This article discusses the results found in a study of people about how they feel about their self images. It shows that there is a difference between how the subjects reacted and they are measured with explicit reactions and implicit reactions. Both of these styles of reactions show similar results as previous studies showing that the level of beauty stressed in media caused children, especially girls to have a lower self esteem and makes them have more emphasis of their own personal appearance.

Pogrebin gives both sides in the debate over whether the arts really influence academics. She gets perspective from recent research and mainly the experience of two art teachers and co-authors of a book on the same topic. The article is mainly composed of quotes from the two authors. They explain how important the arts are, and how some people support the arts because it helps build skills in other areas. They support that this could be true but that art should be valued in and of itself, and therefore should always be existent in education.

Which is leading to an increased rate in educational difficulities. Many of those survivors had trouble in reading specifically. This study also shows that women have a higher increased risk for learning disiblites.

The article for this topic is entitled: "Cash-Flow Control." This can easily be found by going to the URL above and clicking on research and articles. It is the third of four articles. The article that I have chosen to use regards how to spend your money wisely. In short, the article's main purpose is to show people smart spending habits, and how to save yourself from unnecessary purchases. It is the author's goal in this article to show the reader to shop and buy smarter. Many ideas are given to save money. First, the author, Allison Scotch, says to not be fooled by sales. We should also avoid spending too much on our pets, over-shopping at the market, paying late fees, overpaying taxes, being careless with loose change, and eating out for dinner. All of these categories, when managed wisely will reduce your fees and leave you with more money in your pocket.

It also talks about the behavior problems of the child once they are back in a school setting. This research was conducted with special educators to develop what skills and resources they need to help the child succeed.

It shows experiments that people have run in determining learning and teaching methods that are effective.
