"On 30 October 2013, the team of UNESCO-UNEVOC welcomed Khaled Fakha, Alsu Ismetova, Benedict Hartmann and Verena Becker from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to the UNEVOC premises. All four are undertaking an internship at the GIZ in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Bonn/Eschborn. They visited the Centre to learn more about its work in general, the cooperation with GIZ and the Centre's role as a clearinghouse for TVET."

" Le littoral est marqué à la fois par les effets de la pression sociodémographique et économique et les incidences du changement climatique. Toutefois, le ministre de la Pêche et des Affaires maritimes du Sénégal a annoncé, hier, une série de mesures allant dans le sens de restaurer l'équilibre de cet écosystème. C'était à l'occasion de l'ouverture de la 2e édition des Journées scientifiques sur le littoral tenue à l'Ucad sur le thème : « Vulnérabilité et résiliences des écosociosystèmes littoraux ouest-africains ». En marge de l'ouverture de la 2e édition des Journées scientifiques sur le littoral (Jsl), le ministre de la Pêche et des Affaires maritimes, Haïdar El Ali, a révélé que le gouvernement est en train de travailler sur le code de la pêche, qui ne prend pas en compte suffisamment la durabilité de la ressource halieutique. Il a ajouté que l'Etat, en partenariat avec l'Union européenne, a un vaste programme de gestion du littoral qui est en phase d'étude. « Nous voulons restaurer l'habitat marin, parce que les habitats des juvéniles sont aujourd'hui dégradés. Cette restauration doit être faite à plusieurs niveaux. D'abord, il y a le nettoyage des fonds marins par le prélèvement des filets."

The World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics Congress is the leading international event for the vocational education, technical and skills training community and this year's event hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange will focus on the theme Global Partnerships: Building a Better Future.

On 25 April 2014, interns of UNESCO-UNEVOC welcomed four interns from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to the UNESCO-UNEVOC premises. The visitors are currently undertaking an internship in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the GIZ in Bonn and Eschborn, Germany. They visited the Centre to learn more about its work in general, the cooperation with GIZ and the Centre's role as a clearinghouse for TVET. The visit started with a short introduction of all participants, which was followed by a presentation held by the UNESCO-UNEVOC interns. The presentation focused on UNESCO-UNEVOC's mission, the UNEVOC Network and the online resources. The GIZ interns were especially interested in how the UNEVOC Network works and in the reports of the World TVET Database, a feature they found very useful."

Etant donné que l'année 2015 a été déclarée Année internationale des sols en vue de mettre en exergue l'impérieuse nécessité d'assurer une meilleure gestion des sols, nombre de personnes sont en train de promouvoir l'agriculture de conservation (AC) comme solution-clé pour les paysans africains. Cependant, la lenteur de l'adoption en Afrique subsaharienne suscite des questions concernant l'efficacité de l'AC et l'importance réelle de telles pratiques pour les petits exploitants agricoles. Un nouveau rapport du CCAFS, fruit de la collaboration avec le FIDA et le CIRAD apporte quelques réponses.

"University of Milan-Bicocca, Milan, 14-16 October 2015 Around the world far too many young people are not in employment, education or training (NEET). Roughly one third of the world's youth are unemployed, looking for work or they are discouraged and therefore inactive. Unemployment rates among young people are particularly high in the Middle East and North Africa. In general, the youth is more vulnerable in economic crises and is disadvantaged on the labour market because they have less working experience and are less skilful in application processes than adults. Besides, one cause for high rates of youth unemployment is the mismatch between labour supply and labour demand. This goes along with a lack of labour market services focussed on the needs of young people. In this context the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), has developed the new Global Initiative on Innovative Labour Market Services for Youth."

Ce soutien à l'initiative Education for Employment témoigne de l'importance qu'accorde l'entreprise à la pertinence des compétences professionnelles. Accenture (NYSE : ACN) et les fondations Accenture ont versé une contribution de six millions de dollars à l'initiative Education for Employment (EFE) afin de soutenir le lancement de son programme Training for the Future, qui propose des formations qualifiantes en ligne et en classe à plus de 25 000 jeunes défavorisés en Espagne, au Maroc et en Tunisie.

In collaboration with CORAF/WECARD and Canada's IDRC, IITA will support 20 individuals for PhD and masters research in agriculture for development in West and Central Africa. Applications are invited from qualified individuals in Chad, Dem Rep Congo, Sierra Leone, and Togo who are currently registered in PhD. or masters programs in recognized universities, and who are not more than 40 years old. The program particularly invites applications from women. The accepted applicants will be offered coaching and training through IITA to build their research knowledge and skills.

The local industry is bringing in clear ideas about their specific qualification needs and they are a strong factor to meet the requirements of employability when designing any kind of qualification program."

Development institutions are learning new ways to share knowledge. The traditional hierarchical model of training, in which information is passed down from teacher to student, or donor to recipient, is not always the most effective. Instead, partnerships are emerging through which experiences can be shared.

Une formation des boulangers et des femmes transformatrices, dans le cadre du projet « Promotion de la souveraineté alimentaire par la valorisation des ressources locales au Sénégal" se déroule, du 04 au 20 Décembre 2015 dans les trois associations bénéficiaires dudit projet. Trois Formateurs français sont mobilisés par Solidarité pour assurer la formation de ces trois acteurs précités en haut. La formation sur l'Entente des Groupements Associés de Koungheul (EGAK) étant terminé, celle sur l'Association pour le Développement des Agriculteurs de la région de Kaolack (ADAK) est en train de se dérouler à Kaffrine et enfin une autre se déroulera à Jig-Jam (Fissel).

Les objectifs de cette formation sont de former les participants à: évaluer les potentiels, forces et faiblesses de produits de qualité liée à l'origine et aux savoirs faire locaux, mener des inventaires de produits qui sont éligibles à une démarche d'indications géographiques, définir des stratégies et des plans d'actions pour la valorisation des produits de qualité les plus prometteurs. Organisation La formation sera menée de manière la plus interactive possible alternant des présentations de concepts illustrés d'études de cas, des exercices de mise en situation et des visites de terrain. Elle est prévue sur 5 jours et s'appuiera notamment sur la méthode d'identification et le WebTool[1] de la FAO, afin de voir les champs d'application possibles en lien avec les besoins des participants."

"A group of African farmers are producing a commodity, but every season they struggle to access the needed inputs - improved seeds, quality fertilizers and crop protection products - at the right time, in the right quantity and quality, in reasonable proximity to their farms and for a reasonable price. They often do not have the needed cash or credit to pay for the inputs. After harvest, the farmers struggle to sell their goods. Often, they have no choice but to sell their produce at the local market for a low price. They are not organized and do not have the capacity either to negotiate for better prices, or to store their produce until prices increase. Even the basic options needed to add value are beyond their reach."
