The three-day event, attended by over 100 experts in training, system analysis and policy advice, opened Monday with the spotlight on two of UNEVOC's priorities - youth employment and skills development and bringing an ecological perspective to TVET. Tuesday's theme was regional and international harmonization in TVET. Delegates looked well beyond the regional boundaries of Europe, CIS and North America, which is one of the five regional clusters around which UNEVOC organizes its global work. Representatives of the Africa, Arab States, Asia and Pacific, and Latin America and Caribbean regions presented the progress in advancing UNESCO-UNEVOC's agenda, based on the Shanghai Consensus proposals identified last year at UNESCO's Third International Congress on TVET."

"Subject: Vacancies: Vocational Instructors and TVET Directors From: Carlo Humberg [carlo.humberg@de.tuv.com] Vacancies: Vocational Instructors and TVET Directors The restructuring of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Saudi Arabia is a big issue since a couple of years. With government initiatives at the core of this reform, we are currently observing that large local industrial conglomerates are engaging themselves more and more in this modernization process. The local industry is bringing in clear ideas about their specific qualification needs and they are a strong factor to meet the requirements of employability when designing any kind of qualification program."

Empowering Africa's youth with requisite agricultural education | CAADP - 0 views

  •
" Youths, farmers and other actors along agricultural value chains require training to achieve the scale and scope of agricultural development that will transform the continent and make it food secure as well as reduce poverty. However, the provision of agricultural skills development and vocational training in Africa has been largely inadequate across the value chain resulting in losses - both in productivity and potential income. To address this, the NEPAD Agency's Agriculture Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) Programme was developed in order to promote technical vocational education and training in the agricultural sector. The ultimate goal is to strengthen TVET in Africa's agriculture education system in order to deliver the desired numbers and competency levels of a skilled work force. This will ensure optimal productivity levels across the agriculture value chains and open up more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship."
