Hi all, I wanted to share my glog with you. It was fun to make once I found out how it works. I think it is a good tool to use in the classroom, especialy for a brainstorming session.

This is a video I think everybody should see. It is the story behind Finland´s educational system. The reason for tagging this video is the general idea you get for their success. It shows us the theory we are studying and the possible application. Although I don´t think it is possible to implement this system in Spain because of the big social and cultural differences it gives you a good idea about how it could be. In the video they talk about the differences, their curriculum, assessment, objectives, planning, tasks, their aims, some activities, the way students are invited to make their own decisions etc. Have a look, it's a real eye opener.

I found an interesting article on assessment for learning. It gives you a clear idea of what it is, the aims, benefits… all explained in a very clear way. What I liked most about this article is the practical example of where and how assessment for learning can be used. At the end of the article you can find some useful links to other articles on assessment.

I found an interesting article on lesson planning. This article gives us some guidelines and interesting things to think about when planning a lesson such as the grammar knowledge and its effect on fluency. They pay a lot of attention to the importance of fluency activities, something that hasn´t come forward in our classes and that is not taken into account very often in the classroom. And fluency is exactly the reason why we are teaching/learning foreign languages. Fluency is what students need to be able to communicate with native speakers or speakers from other countries.

I think this is an interesting article on approaches and methods because it gives us a clear and understandable view about these concepts. We learned about different approaches last year and this article gives us a small review and some different angles to see the need and use of knowing these concepts. The article also explains other concepts like syllabus, teacher´s role, materials… After reading this article I came to the conclusion that we shouldn´t focus on one approach but maybe take some parts of different approaches and methods. The key to being a good teacher is keep looking for the method that works best for you and your students with the help of what has been used and what we are being taught.

We are learning a lot about competences: the common european framework of reference and its general competences, the andalusian legislation and its general competences, etc. This article might help you a bit to understand these different concepts.
