Critical Literacy | Webcasts for Educators - Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat - 11 views

  • In relation to classroom practice, students' learning experiences must help them to assume a critical stance when responding to or creating texts. They need to discover how texts are constructed and how they work. Students need to understand what texts are attempting to do and they need to move toward taking an active, meaning-making position with regard to texts. This webcast will explore what critical literacy is, why it is essential, and what it might look like in an elementary classroom. This webcast is intended to promote professional dialogue and positive action toward improving student achievement.

Overdrive Online Marketing Blog: Is Generation Y Experiencing a Technology Burnout? - 1 views

  • The baby boomer results don't surprise me. What does jump out at me is how the most technologically savvy generation we have seen to date is slowing their adoption. Could they be suffering from social fatigue or do they have enough technology in their lives already? Perhaps they are returning toward more face-to-face venues, which anecdotally, I have heard. It will be interesting to see how this progresses next year.

Buy Google 5 Star Reviews - 100% Permanent, Best Quality - 0 views

  •
Introduction In essence, Google Verified Reviews are a mechanism for Google to confirm that the reviews that show up on a search results page are legitimate and not spam. Google accomplishes this by confirming the reviewer's identification and the fact that they actually have an account with the company they are evaluating. This verification procedure is intended to help raise the caliber of reviews that show up on Google and assist companies in gaining the trust of prospective clients. Buy Google Verified Reviews

Buy Google 5 Star Reviews Introduction Google is the biggest search engine in the world, thus its views count for a lot. Because of this, companies ought to be concerned with Google 5 Star Reviews. Google uses five star reviews to guide users to the finest companies. A high rating indicates that Google users have had favorable experiences with the company. Google 5 Star Reviews are comparable to online word-of-mouth recommendations, in other words. How do they work? Customers can rate their interactions with a company on Google by leaving a review with a five-star rating. On Google Maps or Search, clients can give businesses a 5-star rating and review. Customers will conduct a Google search for a company and use the "Write a Review" button to offer a rating or review. Following that, clients will be given the option to rate their experience on a scale of 1 to 5 stars and to submit a brief review summarizing it. Buy Google 5 Star Reviews You have no control over what customers write in their reviews if you're a business owner. However, you have power over how you respond to reviews, which can demonstrate to prospective clients that you are concerned about their experiences.

The Educational Technology Site: ICT in Education: --> A Preview of 2DIY - 0 views

  • I like the idea that children could use this to devise activities which, rather than testing or extending their skills by doing the activity itself, does so by requiring them to design the activity themselves
  • For example, when creating a quiz they may have to think about issues like the path taken by the user, how to frame the question, show the scoring will work, and what sounds (if any) to use for the feedback.
  • News & Views A Preview of 2DIY By Terry Freedman Created on Wed, 14 Jan 2009, 09:33 Email this article  Printer friendly page Email the author Listen to this article if ("">"") { document.write (""); document.write (""); document.write (""); } I've just received a link to download the latest program from 2Simple. Called 2DIY (for non-Brits, DIY = do-it-yourself, a shorthand term for home making things like bookshelves for the home), it enables users to create their own games and exercises.I've had a quick exploration, and it is looking very good. Read on for a quick thumbnail sketch, and why I think you should look into it.Back in the 1990s I used to love looking at shareware games developed for the educational sector. Some of the games were quite fun, but the problem for me was either that the game wasn't really educational at all, or that it didn't quite do what I'd have liked. Unfortunately, I never had the time to develop my games programming skills in order to rectify the situation.I think 2DIY would have been a step in the right direction.I think the best way of describing the program -- bearing in mind I've had it installed for less than an hour -- is that it's the programming equivalent of a painting or desktop publishing program. What you have  is a suite of specialised  tools, and you can use them to build yourt own games and activities. You can see from the screenshot that the range is quite extensive. The manual is easy to use, and there are videos and examples available. It has the ability to let you import pictures or select from a range of ones provided. Indeed, there is quite a lot of control over what your completed game or activity will look like. What's more interesting to me, however, is what boxes it ticks if you put it into the hands of youngsters -- and I use the term "youngsters" rather than "children" for reasons which will become apparent

Maker Movement Reinvents Education - 4 views

  • THE MAKER MOVEMENT is a global community of inventors, designers, engineers, artists, programmers, hackers, tinkerers, craftsmen and DIY’ers—the kind of people who share a quality that Rosenstock says “leads to learning [and]…to innovation,” a perennial curiosity “about how they could do it better the next time.” The design cycle is all about reiteration, trying something again and again until it works, and then, once it works, making it better. As manufacturing tools continue to become better, cheaper and more accessible, the Maker Movement is gaining momentum at an unprecedented rate. Over the past few years, so-called “makerspaces” have cropped up in cities and small towns worldwide—often in affiliation with libraries, museums and other community centers, as well as in public and independent schools—giving more people of all ages access to mentorship, programs and tools like 3-D printers and scanners, laser cutters, microcontrollers and design software

When Teachers Are the Experts. From Tradtional to Collaborative Professional D.evelopment: The Committed Sardine - blog - 5 views

  • What my school is learning, and what current research suggests, is that teachers don’t improve by listening to someone tell them how to do something newer or better in their classrooms. They learn by working together to address problems they themselves identify in their schools and classrooms. This type of staff development goes by many names, but I’ll use the term “collaborative PD.” The problems with old PD are so many, and the benefits of collaborative PD so great, that the days are surely numbered for the former. Yes, old-style professional development is doomed.
