"If you were happily downloading the update to iOS 10 today when your dreams were crushed by a black screen with a Lightning cord connecting to an iTunes logo on it, you're not alone. Something has gone wrong during the installation process with iOS 10 and many of us are feeling the punch. Technically, this hasn't "bricked" your device. It just needs some special care and attention. We only mentioned "brick" because we know that's what a lot of you are thinking. If you're iPhone or iPad looks like I described above, don't worry. There is a way to get you back to the way you were before. You just have to connect your device to iTunes."

Now that iPads are infiltrating the office space and boardrooms, I see more and more co-workers wanting to take videos and other files into meetings with them. This isn't a problem on a PC or Mac because they can just use USB drives, but iOS 7 devices like the iPad aren't as easy to transfer files to (iOS 8 will change this a bit with iCloud Drive, but it's not here yet). Fortunately, as long as you have a computer running a recent version of iTunes, it's fairly easy to transfer files to an iPad using the USB cable (30-pin or Lightning, depending on your device):"

"It's now possible to display your iPad to your class by connecting it directly to your Mac using the lightning-USB cable (the same one you use to charge your iPad).  Once your iPad is connected to your Mac, launch QuickTime Player (in your Applications folder). From the File menu Choose "New Movie Recording".  This will open a movie window and show your web cam.  If you hover your mouse over the window you will see a floating recording palette.  Next to the record button, there is a small white V icon.  Clicking that will let you select your iPad as the camera source!  Of course you can record it if you want to - but you don't have to - you can just use it to show your screen to the class."

"You can use an adapter and a cable to mirror exactly what's on your iPad's display onto a projector or television screen. When picking out an adapter, you need to know if your device has a Lightning or 30-pin Dock connector. New iPads and iPad minis have a Lightning connector. iPad 2 has a Dock connector."
